    JFD700: The Conversation, The Farmer, Cannonball Run

    Junk Food Dinner is back... for the 700th time! That's right, this month JFD celebrates it's milestone 700th episode! And what better way to commemorate 700 episodes than with three movies from the 1970's? Alright, two movies from the 70's and one move from the early 80's but feels decidedly 70's.  Up first, Francis Ford Coppola directs Gene Hackman as a surveillance specialist who gets caught up in the intrigue of the couple he's spying on in 1974's The Conversation, with appearances from Harrison Ford, Frederic Forrest, Cindy Williams and Teri Garr. Next, a decorated WWII solider comes home to his struggling family farm, but soon gets entangled in a revenge plot at the behest of a wealthy gambler in The Farmer from 1977.  And finally, a colorful cast of celebrities, including Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Farrah Fawcett, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Adrienne Barbeau and Jackie Chan (among many others) compete in a cross-country road race where wacky hijinks ensue in Hal Needham's Cannonball Run from 1981. It's that classic tale of a girl losing an eyeball in a tennis match and ending up with a haunted eyeball in its place. You know, one of those classic tales. Also a love story!     JFS120: Backrooms (2026)

    Your boys are back and here to discuss many things! Chief amoung them, perhaps, is a trippy Japanese wrestling match where burly men and juggalos fight there a Backrooms-esque recreation of a suburban home. Do these men care if they live or die? Then Sean and Parker discuss the new hit film "Backrooms" directed by Kane Parsons, depiste what conspiracy theorists would have you believe. Based on his short film and the internet creepypasta phenomenon, the film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (who we discussed in Serenity) as a furniture salesman who finds a walkway into a new universe full of impossible geometry. They talk Scary Movie, Supergirl, a new movie from the Bunny Game guy and all the rest! Then, they discuss the 1958 film, "Bell, Book and Candle" starring Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart. You know, the "Vertigo" duo. In this Richard Quine-directed movie based on a play, a straight-laced man falls for a beatnick witch in Manhattan. But is it supernatural or normal natural?     JFD699: Hot Times (AKA A Hard Day For Archie), Lake of Illusions, Josie and the Pussycats

    JFD returns just in time to spoil your Memorial Day weekend with a trio of cult flicks, two loosely connected to the world of Archie Comics and one that is decidedly not. Up first, is Hot Times (AKA A Hard Day For Archie), a raunchy sex comedy from 1974 with characters roughly modeled after Archie and his gang but instead of Riverdale, they live in grimy 70's New York City. Directed by celebrated underground director Jim McBride, the plot (as it is) follows Archie as he tried to get laid on New Year's Eve. Next, we have the sprawling, methodical Lake of Illusions from 1982. A Toho release about a young woman working in a history-themed bath house who loves to run and loves her dog but finds her world turned upside down when he canine companion is killed. And finally, early 2000's pop culture is on full display in Josie and the Pussycats from 2001 starring Rachel Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson and Tara Reid as a pop-punk band who finds themselves in the middle of a capitalist conspiracy when they are inexplicably signed to a major label and marketed as the next big thing. All this plus Obsession chat, Kevin's adventures in the Motor City, 70's Brazilian cult cinema debuting stateside, Sam Raimi gets into dolls, more flicks from Indonesian horror icon Suzanna to own and so much more!     JFS117: Undefeatable (1993)

    Sean and Parker are back! They discuss a couple of things before doing a commentary for the Clerks unaired pilot from 1995. It stars Jim Bruer, Keri Russell, the girl from Ernest Saved Christmas, one of the guys from the Buffy movie and somehow had no involvement from Kevin Smith! All this and then the boys discuss the Godfrey Ho classic "Undefeatable" from 1993. The movie has a reputation for being terrible, but is it? In it, Cynthia Rothrock is an underground fighter who helps a cop track down a Norman Bates-esque killer who happens to be very good at karate.
