Demystifying Crypto | Sathvik Vishwanath of Unocoin
On today’s episode of the Beyond Campus podcast, we have a founder whose tryst with technology started at a very young age and has always put his heart into innovative and disruptive technology.
Hailing from a small town, Tumkur in Karanataka, Sathvik Vishwanath, Co-founder and CEO, Unocoin, started programming in 1995 when he was in Class 7 and soon graduated to building animations and programs. In a candid conversation with Akshay Datt, Sathvik recalls how his journey took a different turn when the internet arrived in India. He would spend his summers at cyber cafes to understand how the computer works and understanding its fundamentals.
After graduation, this computer prodigy started working with Cognizant Technologies which gave him an insight into how MNCs worked. After his MBA from the University of Melbourne, he started VentureNext in 2008, which was involved with custom scripting for businesses in the virtual world called SecondLife.
It was in 2012, he was introduced to Bitcoin which led to his next venture, Unocoin, India’s first bitcoin platform, which today is serving 1.2 million customers.
