ADHDville Podcast - Let's chat ADHD

Paul and Martin are riddled with Adult ADHD and they wanna share.

Welcome to ADHDville - an Adult ADHD Podcast—a place where two old friends (who’ve known each other for way too long) talk about the beautiful glittery chaos of ADHD. We’re here for the laughs, the stories, and yes, sometimes even advice… but don’t take us too seriously. Think of us as an ADHD park bench: plenty of space, no judgment, and maybe a squirrel or two. We chat about the wild ride that is adult ADHD, bring in the occasional guest for fresh perspectives, and somehow always end up on a completely unrelated tangent. We’re not professionals (unless you count professional over-sharers), we're all about real talk, big laughs, and a lot of “same!” moments. Grab a seat and join Paul and Martin (the co-mayors of ADHDville) on this hilariously messy journey!

ADHD Summer Special 4: Gas Stations, Horoscopes & HR Nightmares

Welcome back to ADHDville! We’re deep into the Summer Specials, and Paul is still away on his vacation, don’t worry, we’re pretty sure he’ll be back in September, and we’re just hoping his Speedos stay at the beach. In this episode, Martin and the wonderful guest host Amy are back to read the headlines from the ADHDville Gazette. We’re diving into all the "fun" ways our brains work, starting with the classic ADHD tax on car ownership. Martin kicks things off by revealing his history of playing a dangerous game of "Chicken with the Gas Station" and his failed attempts at car maintenance, proving that if you can’t see the oil, does it even exist? Amy then shares her sensory nightmare at a water aerobics class that didn’t have any water, and how her body temperature regulation is a bit, well, broken. Of course, we have the official ADHDville Horoscopes to see what the stars have in store for our chaotic lives, and Amy brings up the inevitable doom of "Waiting Mode" when you have evening plans. We’ve also got some listener comments and a story from Amy's past that involves an HR department and a bathroom lock that will make you cringe. So, if you’ve ever run out of gas on purpose for the adrenaline rush, or if your entire day is ruined because you have a 7 PM dinner reservation, this is your episode. Introducing Amy and the Struggle of Being Human

Paul is off enjoying his summer holidays (probably rocking a tiny speedo, but we don't judge), so Martin has done the most ADHD thing possible: he's invited Amy, someone he's only met twice, to guest co-host the show. What could possibly go wrong? In this episode, we dive headfirst into the chaos of ADHDville. Amy opens up about her journey of discovering she might be neurodivergent after years of therapy, and she and Martin bond over the absolute nightmare that is... taking a shower. From the overwhelming steps of transitioning from the front door to the couch, to the sensory horror of a cold sports bra, and the existential dread of a building-wide happy hour, this episode is a masterclass in relatable struggles. Listen in as we cover: The sensory overload of everyday transitions (and why "just take a shower" is never that simple) The overwhelming steps of coming home from work Our shared hatred for corporate icebreakers and forced fun How a late-in-life discovery of neurodivergence can bring a sense of reliefThis is a raw, funny, and deeply relatable chat for anyone who's ever felt like their brain is operating on a completely different operating system. With Guest Willy Dubs: Why Your 'Broken' Brain is Actually a Feature, Not a Bug

In this special summer episode of ADHDville, Martin is joined by the brilliant and brutally honest Willy Dubs to talk about his new book, The Mis-fits. This isn't your typical "five hacks to fix your focus" kind of chat. Willy is here to flip the script entirely.  We dive deep into what it really means to be neurodivergent.  Willy explains why he ditched terms like "neurotypical" and "neurodivergent" in favour of "sequential thinkers" and "recursive thinkers" — and why the world is built for one but desperately needs the other .    It’s a conversation about why our "deficits" are often just a different kind of pattern recognition, why school feels like a factory, and how we can stop trying to fix ourselves and start building a world that actually fits. Martin and Willy get raw, real, and surprisingly philosophical, talking about the trauma that builds our "code," the battle for autonomy (hello, PDA!), and why being a "misfit" might just be what the world needs right now.    This is for anyone who has ever felt like the problem isn't them—it's the system. ADHD & Being an Otrovert - When You're the Life of the Party But Still Feel Like an Outsider

Ever feel like you're standing outside the group, looking in—even when you're right in the middle of it? This week, Martin and Paul (your favorite ex-mayors of ADHDville) dive headfirst into the fascinating concept of Otrovertism—and let's just say, Paul's been walking around with a bucket labeled "Otrovert" full of himself for months now. What happens when your ADHD brain craves connection but rejects the whole "groupthink" thing? Turns out, there's a name for that. Dr. Rami Kaminsky coined it in 2024, and honestly? It might just change how you see yourself. Martin and Paul break down: Why being an "outsider" can actually be your secret superpower (unbiased perspective, anyone?) The five hidden strengths of ultraverts (spoiler: creative innovation + emotional resilience = 🔥) That awkward moment when you realize you could have won the team-building exercise just by going to the pub Why neurodivergent brains are basically built for this personality typePlus, Martin shares a deeply personal dream about being part of a World War II tank crew (yes, really), and Paul gets honest about rejection sensitive dysphoria, shame, and why it took him 40 years to realize he was an ultravert all along. Oh, and important news: ADHDville is taking a summer break until September! But don't worry—Martin will be dropping by with some summer specials to keep you company while Paul's off doing... Italian things in his speedos.

ADHD & The Summer Vacation Paradox: Why You're Exhausted After Your Vacation

Is it just us, or does a vacation sometimes feel like you need another vacation just to recover from it? In this week’s episode of ADHDville, your Ex-Mayors, Martin and Paul, pull up a chair at the King’s Agitated Head pub to tackle the ultimate neurodivergent dilemma: the Summer Vacation Paradox. For the ADHD brain, a break from routine sounds like a thrilling dopamine hit—new places, new foods, and all the novelty we crave. But for the Autistic side of our brain? It’s a sensory nightmare of disrupted routines, strange pillows, and noisy buffet lines. It’s the classic battle between wanting to explore the world and wanting to hide in the hotel room. We dive deep into why vacations can leave us feeling burned out instead of recharged. From the chaos of packing and airport anxiety to the pressure of "having fun," we unpack: The hidden stress of planning trips with an AuDHD brain. Why the novelty of a new place can sometimes be more exhausting than exciting. The simple pleasures of a "cookie-cutter" vacation (and the comfort of knowing the food at the local Indian restaurant is good). How to be honest with yourself (and your partner) about the kind of holiday you actually need.We also share our infamous "Two Truths and a Lie" quiz and read your incredible feedback from our last episode. Whether you're an ADHDer, AuDHD, or just someone who comes back from a beach holiday feeling like you've been through a war, this one's for you. Be fucking kind to yourself and join us for a chat. Don't forget to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and hit the bell to join us every Tuesday in ADHDville! Need more of our nonsense? Watch our beautiful faces on YouTube and TikTok. ADHD and Trauma: Why We're 400% More Likely to Get F*cked Up

Welcome back to ADHDville, you beautiful bunch of distracted souls! We’re your ex-mayors, Martin and Paul, and this week we are diving headfirst into a topic that is equal parts heavy and... well, still heavy, but we’re making it funny anyway. We’re talking about Trauma Responses. Buckle up, because the science dropped and it turns out we’re not just dramatic—we’re statistically screwed. New research says that folks with ADHD are 400% more likely to develop severe trauma responses than our neurotypical peers. Four. Hundred. Percent. That’s not a typo, that’s just our brains being overachievers. In this episode, we break down why our ADHD brains are basically trauma magnets. We’re talking about the "Bi-Directional Loop of Doom" where our executive dysfunction makes trauma worse, and the trauma makes our ADHD worse. Fun, right? We get into the nitty-gritty of those specific trauma responses we all know too well: Hypervigilance: You know, the superpower where you can tell how pissed off your partner is just by the way they close the fridge door. Disassociation: Ah yes, the classic "zoning out" that makes you forget you have a body for an hour. Fawning & People-Pleasing: Becoming a chameleon just to keep the peace, even if it means losing yourself in the process. (Spoiler: Martin has a lot to say about this one). Maladaptive Hyperfocus: Using a deep-dive research rabbit hole to avoid eating, sleeping, or dealing with your actual life.Plus: a quiz about Eddies in history, a run-in with a Michelin sommelier, and the real reason Paul buys rosé based on font design. If you’ve ever stood in a supermarket aisle for 20 minutes trying to pick a pasta sauce… this one’s for you. 🔔 Subscribe for fresh ADHD chaos every Tuesday.
