From Canvas to Catwalk with Jayesh Sachdev

We are very excited to present to you @jayeshsachdevJayesh Sachdev is a multi-hyphenated creator. An artist, designer, creative entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, Design Educator. Jayesh is also the founder of the Multi-Award Winning label Quirk Box, and Branding Agency Quirk Box Design Studio( @thequirkbox ) . Jayesh holds the National Record for having painted India’s largest concept artwork and continues to practice as an internationally exhibited artist.His Wearable Art label Quirk Box has been awarded the Vogue India Fashion Fund Award (RU) and Grazia India Young Fashion Award while his Design Agency has won ‘India’s Best Design Award' in 2020, 2021 and 2022, 2023.As an artist, his works are experimental, whimsical and thought-provoking and larger than life. He has been regularly featured across media (Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Grazia, Elle, Verve, India Today) and his art-based fashion label has been worn by a host of A-Lister celebrities.Jayesh graduated in Visual Communication at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore.

Graphic and Motion Design with Rushil Bhatnagar | Baatein LIVE

Rushil Bhatnagar is a graphic designer and motion artist, currently building his multi-disciplinary independent practice based out of India. He graduated from MIT Institute of Design in 2018. He has always been drawn to different mediums of design via story-telling and has worked for clients including Prateek Kuhad, Burma Burma India, Nucleya, Netflix, Ritviz, and Tinder. Socio-Emotional Learning with Swati Shelar | Baatein LIVE

Swati Shelar's design studio jumps the gap between design and education, keeping children at the center of every project. Having trained as a product designer at NID, she went on to work as a toy designer and primary school teacher before getting an MA in Education at Stanford University. Since then, she has worked in the world of Indian education and EdTech as a curriculum designer and educator, starting Jump Design India in 2020. Speculative Design with Sonata Dev | Baatein LIVE

Sonata Dev is a transdisciplinary designer who seeks to create meaningful experiences that question normative design practices through speculative and discursive design. Her work consists of novel interactions and interfaces connecting humans and technology based on playful research, with a pinch of humour and a twinge of uncanny. She currently works as a UX designer that conceptualises and builds products for startups. Independently, she teaches speculative design as modules and workshops at various institutions. Unfolding Origami with Ankon Mitra | Baatein LIVE

Ankon Mitra is a trained architect and a sculptor by practise. He is a TEDx speaker and a warrior for 'making connections across disciplines' with his brainchild - ‘Oritecture - Origami + Architecture’. Recipient of the All-India Gold Medal for Sculpture from the Prafulla Dahanukar Foundation in 2018 and the Lexus Design Award for Craft Design in 2020, his work has been exhibited in numerous countries. He is a member of the Indian Institute of Architects, the British Origami Society, Origami USA, and the Sculpture Network in Europe. His work was showcased at the Arte Laguna in Venice and the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands in 2021. His sculptures and installations are part of public developments and private collections globally. A Pixar Animator’s Journey, with Tarun Lak | Baatein LIVE

Tarun Lak is an Indian-American Animator and Illustrator. Born in Miami, FL and brought up in Chennai, India, he attended Ringling College of Art & Design to study Computer Animation. He has since worked as a character animator on animated commercials and feature films including Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Onward, Soul and Luca. He has also recently illustrated his first picture book, The Moon from Dehradun, out in 2022. Tarun currently works at Pixar and enjoys continuing to make art in his spare time. In this episode of Baatein LIVE, we talked about Tarun’s creative journey, his experience working in Sony and Pixar, illustrating for books, his influences, career struggles, and all things animation.
