    Getting By With a Little Help From Our Friends: An Evening with Big Ed

    If you've visited Havana Phil's or been following us for a while, you might recognize our guest. His towering height, contagious laugh and welcoming presence make him hard to miss-that's Big Ed. He might not be a Segal by birth rite but he's family around here. His journey started with a proposal to move to Greensboro for his career, making fast friends in the industry with none other than Havana Phil III himself. Ed recalls the found memories of sneaking off to Canes games to end the day early, and their long hours creating the new shop together. When Ed received the news that he had been diagnosed with Renal Kidney Failure, he leaned on words from his old pal, "life is too short to smoke shitty cigars." Make the most of every moment you have left. His life may look a little different these days, but that hasn't stopped Ed from enjoying life's simple pleasures. His tendencious spirit reminds us all to love a little harder, laugh a little more and be thankful for every part of the ride.
