Cinetalkies- A podcast by Filmtantra is started with an aim to bring people closer to indie cinema and their filmmakers.     Talking About Fight Club

    Stepping down into the cinemas in 199,9, David Fincher’s “Fight club” wasn’t well revered. Today however, stands at a different ground as it’s dark satire behind graphic beatings, vandalism, and bombings got acknowledged.  Set between the narrator’s depression and Tyler’s freedom from the modern world, the latter’s character appealed to the audience (the male audience to be precise). Such a charming, ripped and totally off-the-grid virile character can only cease to exist in imagination (which he did).  Awning consumerism, modernity, rebellion, sacrifice, repression, and a plethora of subjects Fight Club today stands as a Cult Classic. Just around its 20th anniversary some members of our society revisited Fight Club and broke its First rule!

    Episode 8: Samarth Mahajan

    Samarth Mahajan is a non-fiction filmmaker, passionate about telling human stories that remain invisible to the mainstream. 'The Unreserved', his national award-winning feature about passengers in the third class of Indian Railways, premiered at Film Southasia 2017, has been presented at more than 50 forums. He is directing and producing 'Borderlands' - about how everyday lives intertwine with borders in the Indian sub-continent. Supported by one of the largest ever crowdfunding campaigns for an Indian film, it featured as a work-in-progress at the 2020 Marché du Film - the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival. In the episode, he talks about challenges student filmmaker face, crowdfunding a film, and how he began his journey as a filmmaker.     Episode 6: Iram Gufran

    Iram Ghufran is a filmmaker. Her work has been shown in various art and cinematic contexts including the Berlin Film Festival, Experimenta India, New York Indian Film Festival, and Open Frame among others. She was shortlisted for the Tim Hetherington Visionary Award (2016). She has won two National Awards (2012) and the Mary Kay First Prize at the International Women's Film Festival, Seoul (2012). In this episode, she talks about the rule of thumbs for the documentary, the crucial aspects involved in editing a documentary. The discussion moves on to the experimentative sub-genre of a documentary in recent times and its scope.
