Street Fighter 2 Saved Our Lives!

Street Fighter 2 was THE biggest arcade of the 90s! And the SNES version saved our lives... literally!! SF2 propelled Capcom into the big time, pushed gaming into the public consciousness AND became the defining battle ground for the 16-bit era machines! So in this episode, we follow Capcom's defining title from it's humble genesis with the 1987 original, through its fascinating development and onto its EXPLOSIVE launch! Castlevania Is Brilliant On Mega Drive!!

Halloween comes to GFA Towers!! We've been quaking in our boots this week playing Konami's platforming, hack-'n'-slash classic Castlevania: Bloodlines (also known as Castlevania: The New Generation in PAL territories and Vampire Killer in Japan)! We're huge fans of the Castlevania series, so we wanted to explore where the Mega Drive port fits into the franchise. How does it compare to other greats like Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, and its near-contemporary in the 16-bit wars, Super Castlevania IV? Of course, we delve into the game's amazing level design and its clever graphical trickery. We talk soundtrack—how Castlevania: Bloodlines launched Michiru Yamane's career, which would go on to include some of Konami's greatest games. And we share our thoughts on the game's difficulty and its notoriously tricky sections. We hope you enjoy—and if you're a first-time listener, come subscribe.
