We asked, How do you approach later-line sequencing in cGvHD in your clinical practice?  Cutler discusses his approach to selecting second-line and subsequent therapies for patients with cGvHD. He explains that, in his practice, treatment selection is guided primarily by FDA approval status and toxicity profiles, while organ involvement plays a more limited, context-dependent role. He highlights patient comorbidities and practical considerations, such as route of administration and dosing frequency, as additional factors that may influence therapy selection.     Symposium | Patient’s perspective: My journey with GvHD

    During the 52nd Annual Meeting of the EBMT, the GvHD Hub held a symposium on March 24, 2026, titled “Focusing GvHD care through the eyes of providers and patients: Practical insights on ECP”. Here, we share a presentation by Matea Meden, describing her experience with GvHD. Matea describes her journey with GvHD, focusing on its profound impact on her physical health, emotional wellbeing, and overall quality of life. She outlines her treatment pathway, which included steroids, ruxolitinib, and extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP). She highlights both the practical and physical challenges of ECP alongside the gradual clinical improvements she experienced. Matea also shares advice for patients with GvHD, encouraging them to trust the ECP treatment process, communicate openly with their healthcare team, and draw strength from their family, peers, and support networks.     Symposium | Physician’s perspective: How I treat GvHD with ECP

    During the 52nd Annual Meeting of the EBMT, the GvHD Hub held a symposium on March 24, 2026, titled “Focusing GvHD care through the eyes of providers and patients: Practical insights on ECP”. Here, we share a presentation by Hildegard Greinix, Vienna, AT, describing her approach to treating GvHD with ECP. Greinix presents two patient case studies illustrating the use of ECP for the management of both acute and chronic GvHD. In both cases, she notes that ECP could be considered a second‑line or later treatment option, either as monotherapy or in combination with other agents, due to its immunomodulatory mechanism of action and favorable safety profile. She also explores key considerations and patient factors that inform treatment selection and initiation. This educational resource is independently supported by Therakos.     Symposium | The role of nurses within the multidisciplinary GvHD care team

    During the 52nd Annual Meeting of the EBMT, the GvHD Hub held a symposium on March 24, 2026, titled “Focusing GvHD care through the eyes of providers and patients: Practical insights on ECP”. Here, we share a presentation by Michelle Kenyon, London, UK, describing the role of nurses in the care of patients with GvHD. Kenyon highlights the essential role of nurses in the multidisciplinary management of GvHD, including their involvement in continuous monitoring and assessment of symptoms, administration of treatment regimens and management of complications, alongside their integral role in providing education and support to patients and their families. Kenyon also emphasizes the importance of effective communication, noting that nurses act as key facilitators within the multidisciplinary team to ensure clear information exchange between patients and the wider healthcare team.     What are the treatment options for chronic GvHD-associated fibrosis?

    The GvHD Hub was pleased to speak with Corey Cutler, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, US. We asked, What are the treatment options for chronic GvHD-associated fibrosis? In this interview, Cutler discusses the development and clinical impact of fibrotic manifestations in chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGvHD), and explores the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved therapies, including ibrutinib, ruxolitinib, belumosudil, and axatalimab, and the differences in their mechanisms of actions that may influence their use in the treatment of fibrotic disease. He also considers how novel antifibrotic agents might be integrated into the management of fibrotic cGvHD in the future. This educational resource is independently supported by Sanofi.     MSCs: From clinical trials to clinical practice

    During the GvHD Hub Steering Committee Meeting in December 2025, key opinion leaders met to discuss the mechanism of action and clinical data supporting the use of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) for the treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). The meeting opened with a presentation by Robert Zeiser and featured a discussion including Mohamad Mohty, Yi-Bin Chen, Daniel Wolff, Florent Malard, Corey Cutler, and Andrew Harris. During his presentation, Zeiser outlined the proposed mechanism of action of MSCs, describing how they promote an immunosuppressive and immunoregulatory environment. He explored the evolving clinical trial landscape of MSCs in the treatment of GvHD, beginning with the first reported use in 2004, and summarized key trial results leading to the approval of the MSC products remestemcel-L and JR-031. Zeiser highlighted the challenge of MSC product variability, which has contributed to heterogenous response rates across studies. He introduced MSC-Frankfurt am Main (FFM), an MSC product generated by pooling bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells from eight human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-disparate donors to reduce variability. He also explored MSC-FFM outcomes across real-world cohorts and presented the study designs of two ongoing phase II/III trials. This discussion topic is supported by Medac, who provided funding.
