Hodinkee Australia's Jamie Weiss on why a local edition matters

Earlier this year, news dropped that Australia was getting its very own local version of Hodinkee, proving (among other things) the strength of the local watch scene. A few months on, the first issue of the Hodinkee Australia magazine has dropped, and it felt like the perfect time to chat to founding editor (and professional yapper), Jamie Weiss, about his journey in the watch world and how Hodinkee Australia is different to the OG masthead, along with plenty of inside baseball references. Supported by Raymond Weil: This week's episode is proudly supported by Raymond Weil. Andy checks out the Millesime Small Seconds in this episode; check it out for yourself. June Watch News: Andy's Japan Watch Hunting & Massive New Microbrand Collaborations

After a quick break, Andy and Felix are back behind the microphones! We kick things off with a deep dive into Andy's incredibly watch-heavy trip to Japan. From heavy-hitting independent watchmaking like Naoya Hida and Zenith, to the brilliant microbrands of Kurono Tokyo and Kuoe Kyoto, we cover the insane Japanese vintage scene and why Tokyo remains a mecca for watch collectors. 🇯🇵✈️ Meanwhile, Felix catches Andy up on what he missed back home, including the spectacular premiere of the NGV's Cartier exhibition. It's also been a massive month for watch news and new releases. We break down the newest pieces from Chopard, the wild Ming x J.N. Shapiro American-Malaysian collaboration, and TAG Heuer's jaw-dropping, piston-packing Monaco Speed 12. Finally, we pause to pay tribute to an absolute giant of the watch industry, the late Philippe Stern of Patek Philippe, who passed away this June. This week's episode is supported by Raymond Weil. Check out the new A.R.T. collection here, and find out what we think about it in this week's episode. Notes: Zenith X Naoya Hida (1:10) Kurano Tokyo (6:00) Kuoe Kyoto (8:30) Raymond Weil A.R.T.
