Dear Blenders,
ReelBlend has become my favourite weekly podcast for over one year, soon after we got the chance to interview Sean on his “Release the Snyder Cut” book. Every week, I look forward to the weekend to indulge into nearly two hours of nerdy, geeky, passionate, fun, and informative talks.
Undoubtedly, the main strength of this podcast is the diversity of opinion, a wide spectrum which enables the listeners to appreciate distinct points of views and perspectives. Movies are personal experiences and resonate differently to each and any of us, so it’s empowering to hear you guys sharing your very own experiences. Each of you respectfully acknowledges the opinions of the other co-hosts and brings something to the podcast to enhance my cinematic experience.
The weekly interviews are also a significant asset of the show. You create very relaxed settings and make delightful and charming interviews so that 30 minutes feel like 5. I loved many interviews from last year, including Denis Villeneuve, Zack Snyder, Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, and Hans Zimmer, and I’m finally catching up with some older ones. Patty Jenkins was incredible.
Moving to the individual co-hosts, I cannot thank enough Kevin for all his tips and expertise on the aspect ratios and for sharing his contagious passion for the IMAX experience. I was lucky enough to enjoy a few Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve’s movies in the so-called largest IMAX screen in the world in Melbourne, Australia, one of the very few IMAX theatres able to present movies in the 1570 format, the one used to film Tenet. I really enjoyed these movies thanks to Kevin’s insight.
I really dig into Jake’s interviews and junkets, his smart questions and cozy environment he’s able to create – Sean and Kevin are good as well to be honest - I think of the interviews with Andrew Garfield and Chloé Zhao. However, I am extremely jealous of Jake’s clarity even when talking 5x the normal speed. As many people in the world, English is not my first language, so I’m learning a few new things on every interview I hear. And yes, I also liked Finch a lot.
Sean is simply a champ! I cannot thank him enough for his kindness and the amazing interview he offered to participate in. I ate his book up and I can’t wait to get my hands to the new one. To be honest, I believe that Batman is the GOAT of superheroes, and I am shocked to hear that “The Batman” is not in his top 5 most anticipated movies of 2022 – thanks Kev and Jake for that. However, I can’t deny that his passion for Spider-Man is contagious, and I thought of him a few times while watching No Way Home on Dec, 15th, among lots of screaming Italian fans! Can’t wait to read “With great powers”!
Finally, special thanks to Gabe for being such an amazing producer and for competently managing and producing the ReelBlend podcast! It’s always good when we can see your face on screen every now and then.
Keep up with the great work and my best wishes for continued success!
