Early seasons were undoubtedly interesting but it’s devolved into a poorly produced and self-aggrandising exercise. Considering the sensitive topics frequently being raised and discussed, this podcast does not have enough critical, intelligent or objective discussion of the stories it tries to tell. The whiplash of going from a heartbreaking discussion of an abused and murdered child to a ‘meet cute’ about a cute guy with a nice butt is something I’ll never understand and has pushed me to write this review for the latest season. If you want to listen to true crime please don’t waste your time here. Listen to podcasts headed and researched by professional journalists (with strict reporting guidelines and standards) or mental health professionals. Not a random with a microphone who will just tell you at the top of the show she’s not a professional who can discuss these topics (as a disclaimer) and then proceeds to do damage and disrespect victims.
