    Episode 123: Peep and Segue

    Oh we got a 7 banger for this episode, 13 minutes with 7 chunks of hot fire and a healthy dose of heavy music, punk hard rock, metal etc. My defense of heavy meta/heavy music is simple: Everybody feels bad, it's okay to feel bad, listening to other people talk about how bad they feel can make you feel less alone, it gets you moving from the overwhelmed state towards action. When I hear a great metal record I wanna go burn somebody's house down, the art in it is picking the right house (the White House, Elmo Mush's house etc) In between the hard nuggets we have some electronic music and some alt country from Ryan Davis, a record I found as a result of my end of year best list scrounging, great lyrics and I don't find myself typing that very often. Way less white boy and girl indie, more non white musicians from all over the world and from here. Just sayin'. Because I'm mostly opposed to pop music and the concepts of pop music and pop culture that currently rule the empire, the Magic Organ's best of year music picks require listeners to do what they are, to listen and pay attention. So if you can't muster the energy necessary to do that and to escape from the Pop Death Star, I don't know what to say, that's on you somewhat, mostly, you might be the victim of a predatory cultural system but some people do make it out and I hope you make it out, it's way more fun being a freak than being in the suck ass line.
