    Trump and the dangerous imaginings and influence of the New Apostolic Reformation movement

    The presenters discuss the dramatic breakdown of the separation between church/religion and state in the US, especially from the 1980s, under the influence of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). The NAR is key part of President Trump's support base, and he isn't too shy to bring it right into the White House and the Government's policies, actions and public performances.The NAR is reportedly the fastest growing Christian extremist movement worldwide.     Automated decision-making affecting people's lives in the new NDIS Bill and across government departments

    Sarah Sacher from the Human Technology Institute (HTI) explains the expanded provisions for automated decision making in the new NDIS Bill before parliament, that lack human oversight and proper guard rails. This decision-making relates to the supports that people with disability can access.While certain types of decisions may be appropriate for automation, those that require human discretion and judgement are not. It appears that government has learnt little from the Robodebt tragedy, and the failures and travesties of automated decision-making in areas such as aged care assessments, Jobseeker compliance assessments, and the many unlawful cancellations of Centrelink payments.In a submission to a Senate inquiry, the HTI recommends that the Australian Government urgently implements a legislated framework for its use of all automated decision making.     Sudan's civil war and the fallout for refugees as told by Aziza Hussein

    Whilst we only very occasionally hear or view on our mainstream media about what's going on in Sudan, the civil war in that countrry has been and continues to be one of the most violent in recent history and still with any possible resolution in sight. It is known that the United Arabic Emirates have been funding and continue to support the rebel militia, the details remain obscure. What is too often forgotten is the human toll especially also the plight of refugees fleeing the country and on the basis of her own experiece, Aziza Hussein reveals what it means to be displaced from your home country and culture and need to adapt to the culture of often not-so-welcoming new host countries and their people(s). The loss of your own culture is often a forgotten but important aspect of such displacements.
