#4 Georgia Dodsworth: A Creative Influencer (recovered)

It's Self-Care Awareness Week (13th-19th Nov) and this week I'm joined by the Founder of The World of Self-Care, Georgia Dodsworth. In this week's episodes Georgia shares her journey with Borderline Personality Disorder and becoming a successful freelancer while still at university studying Performance and Creative Enterprise. In this episode we talk about how Georgia set up her routine and became so disciplined. Georgia is extremely well organised when it comes to planning her days and she explains how this discipline has helped her BPD. We talk about knowing your worth and how much value you can add. More importantly the power of saying 'No' to opportunities and the mental checklist that she does before deciding that a project is worth her time. Georgia's checklist: 1. What is the project. 2. Do I know the company or brand? What are her views of that brand. 3. How much times is the project going to take out of her day/week? 4. Is the job paid or not? 5. Can she add value to the project? Georgia's routine includes: Using a Lumie light alarm. Writing Morning pages to get all her thoughts out on paper at least 3 times per week. Creating a to do list/ plan for her day. The Wanna Be Podcast is back for a Black History Month special and I’m going to be sharing the stories of phenomenal black women who are almost certainly making history with their work. I got to interview New York Times Bestselling author Angie Thomas. She wrote a book called The Hate U Give which I think you’ll like. It’s about a teenage girl called Starr who witnesses her friend die at the hands of the police. The book just got turned into a movie with Amandla Stenberg and it’s so good, you should see it. Honestly, it’s kinda a lot, there’s police brutality, #BlackLivesMatter dealing with white friends and microaggressions. It’s iconic! The film’s out now so go see it! I can’t wait for you to hear this episode, you’re on the path to success right now and Angie shares how she’s managing being social media in the face of sudden success. We talk about what it’s like to give up control on your work and how you can be a better activist and make real change in your community. Snotgirl is published by Image Comics and is a beautifully designed comic series that has a fashion ‘lookbook feel’. Snotgirl documents the dark side of fictional social media influencer Lottie Person. Leslie is described as ‘the perfect artist to balance the ‘grotesequery and glamour that the story demands’ by the Comics Alliance. Leslie is the co-host of the Salt & Honey podcast with fellow cartoonist Sloane Leong. She has racked up 162,000 followers on Instagram which is 99% her drawings. In this episode you’ll find out: 1. Adrian is co-founder and CEO of Six to Start. He is best known as the co-creator of the international smash hit mobile app, “Zombies, Run!” Previously, Six to Start has worked with Disney, the BBC, Channel 4, and Penguin, and Six to Start has won multiple awards including Best of Show at SXSW. Adrian has also been a speaker at the main TED Conference. He is the author of A History of the Future in 100 Objects and writes a tech column for the Telegraph.
