The devastating impacts of the mental health crisis on the youth are impossible to ignore. While the 10th of October was set aside to commemorate World Mental Health Day annually, growing concerns on the alleviation of the crisis still remain. In this podcast, Lubelihle Audrey Mazithulela explores all-things-mental-health with youth activists, storytellers and mental health professionals from around the world.     Life with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) | Annet Kavata

    An individual’s willingness to share their lived experiences with others is a powerful tool in fighting the stigma associated with mental health conditions. The guest in this episode is Annet Kavata, a medical student at Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Kenya and the Founding President of Girl Up AKU. Annet's academic journey is intertwined with her passion for the well-being of the youth, gender equity and mental health-especially through the lens of neurodiversity and her lived experience with ADHD. Through her story, Annet takes us on a journey from her diagnosis, the coping mechanisms she has developed and the challenges she has overcome along the way. Marcia Hove is the current Club President of the GirlUp-United Nations Foundation chapter in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
