Bears Get BAD Kyle Monangai News + Sign Marcus Davenport! Kyler Gordon Drama GROWS

The Chicago Bears received mixed news coming out of their first preseason win—and the roster competition is getting even more intense. On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down the latest injury update on Kyle Monangai, Chicago officially adding veteran edge rusher Marcus Davenport, the increasingly complicated situation surrounding Kyler Gordon, and what Ben Johnson had to say about the readiness of the Bears offense. First, the Monangai news. The second-year running back suffered a hyperextended knee after getting tangled up with Grady Jarrett during practice. The MRI was considered positive, but Monangai is still expected to miss multiple weeks, putting his availability for Week 1 against Carolina into question. That changes the running-back conversation significantly. 👀 🔥 Roschon Johnson led Chicago in rushing during the 34-10 preseason win over Cleveland. ⚡ Salvon Ahmed continued his impressive summer with a 49-yard receiving touchdown. If Monangai misses regular-season action, could both players suddenly have a path to the final roster—and meaningful offensive snaps? Chicago also officially added Marcus Davenport, giving Dennis Allen another veteran defensive lineman who already understands his system. Davenport spent five seasons working with Allen in New Orleans, where he produced the best stretch of his career. The question isn’t whether Davenport becomes Chicago’s star pass rusher. The question is whether he can stay healthy, defend the run, provide rotational pressure and raise the floor of the Bears defensive line. And then there’s Kyler Gordon. His return timeline remains unknown, and the conversation surrounding his extended absence continues getting louder. With younger defensive backs receiving valuable opportunities and Chicago already dealing with significant injuries in the secondary, Gordon may eventually return to a very different situation than the one he left. Does he automatically get his starting nickel job back? Haize doesn’t think the Bears should promise anybody anything. Plus, Ben Johnson says he feels “really good” about where Chicago’s starting offense currently stands after putting the group through an extensive simulated throwing session. But Johnson also left the door open for Caleb Williams and the starters to potentially receive preseason snaps depending on how upcoming joint practices unfold. Today’s show covers: 🏥 Kyle Monangai’s multi-week knee injury ⚡ What his absence means for Salvon Ahmed and Roschon Johnson 💥 Marcus Davenport officially joining the Bears 🛡️ Deantre Prince adding more secondary depth 👀 The increasingly complicated Kyler Gordon situation ⚔️ Whether Gordon should have to earn his starting role back 🔥 Ben Johnson’s confidence in the Bears offense 🎯 Whether Caleb Williams could still play this preseason 📈 How Chicago’s roster battles are changing after Preseason Game 1 The Bears are trying to build a team capable of surviving injuries, creating competition and making a legitimate postseason run. Now we’re finding out just how important that depth could become. 🎙️ Chicago Bears Central Hosted by Haize Podcast Links: https://linktr.ee/ChiBearsCentral Get at us: Email: ChicagoBearsCentral@gmail.com Twitter:@ChiBearsCentral Phone: ‪(773) 242-9336‬ Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Ozzy Trapilo Is BACK! Bears Roster Bubble EXPLODES After 34-10 Win

The Chicago Bears have some VERY interesting roster decisions coming after their dominant 34-10 preseason win over the Cleveland Browns—and they just got another massive boost with Ozzy Trapilo returning to the practice field. On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down the biggest Bears storylines coming out of the weekend, starting with Ozzy Trapilo being activated from the PUP list just seven months after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon. Trapilo participated in individual drills Sunday but has not yet returned to full team work, meaning Chicago will continue taking a cautious approach as he ramps back up. His return adds another fascinating wrinkle to a left-tackle competition already featuring Braxton Jones, Kiran Amegadjie and Jedrick Wills Jr. There was also a scare involving Kyle Monangai, who injured his right knee after getting tangled up with Grady Jarrett during practice. The encouraging early news is that Monangai is believed to be fine and initial testing showed the knee to be structurally sound, with an MRI planned to confirm the diagnosis. Then we have to talk about what happened against Cleveland. The Bears fell behind 10-0 before scoring 34 unanswered points to win 34-10, and several roster-bubble players turned the preseason opener into their personal showcase. 🔥 Jamree Kromah was a wrecking ball off the edge, finishing with two sacks, six tackles, three tackles for loss and two QB hits—including a fourth-down strip sack. 🚀 Kaden Davis took his training-camp momentum directly into the game, leading Chicago with four catches for 88 yards and a touchdown while continuing to make a legitimate push for the 53-man roster. 🛡️ Beanie Bishop Jr. grabbed two interceptions, broke up three passes and immediately made himself relevant in a secondary desperately searching for healthy depth. ⚡ Salvon Ahmed only received two carries but turned three receptions into 55 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown, further intensifying his battle with Roschon Johnson for Chicago’s RB3 role. 💪 Ruben Hyppolite II led the Bears with seven tackles while adding a tackle for loss and pass breakup before leaving with a shoulder injury. Haize also breaks down: 🐻 What Ozzy Trapilo’s return actually means for the LT battle 🏥 The latest on Kyle Monangai’s knee 🔥 Which preseason standouts legitimately improved their roster chances ⚔️ Salvon Ahmed vs. Roschon Johnson for RB3 🚀 Whether Kaden Davis has done enough to force his way onto the 53 🛡️ What Beanie Bishop’s two-interception game means for the secondary 💥 Whether Jamree Kromah can earn a rotational pass-rush role 📈 Which young Bears need to carry their momentum into the rest of preseason Ben Johnson made it clear that the battle behind Swift and Monangai will be decided by more than rushing production. Special teams, pass protection and finding a distinct role will all matter as Chicago sorts through its running-back depth. 🎙️ Hosted by Haize 🔔 Subscribe to Chicago Bears Central for Chicago Bears news, training-camp coverage, roster battles, injury updates, preseason analysis and year-round Bears discussion. Caleb WON’T Play! Malik Muhammad Takes 1st-Team Reps & Kaden Davis EXPLODES

The Chicago Bears are preparing for their first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns—and Ben Johnson just revealed a major part of the plan. On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down everything coming out of Day 13 of Bears training camp, including the decision to sit Caleb Williams and several other starters against Cleveland. Ben Johnson says he simply doesn’t need to see Caleb in preseason action because he watches him compete every day in practice and believes the Bears’ franchise quarterback will be ready for Week 1. That means Tyson Bagent gets the start against Cleveland, with Case Keenum and Miller Moss expected to handle the second half. But the bigger story may be what that extra playing time means for Chicago’s younger players. 👀 🔥 Malik Muhammad continues climbing. After receiving first-team nickel reps because of injuries in the secondary, the rookie corner finally got an opportunity to work outside opposite Jaylon Johnson with Tyrique Stevenson unavailable. 🚀 Kaden Davis refuses to slow down. His connection with Tyson Bagent produced another massive play when the pair connected for a 72-yard touchdown during situational work. 🧱 The left tackle competition also took another turn. Kiran Amegadjie worked with the starting offense and is expected to start against Cleveland, while Jedrick Wills Jr. rotates in. Meanwhile, Braxton Jones returned to practice for individual work as he begins ramping back up. ⚡ Veteran addition Ray-Ray McCloud also wasted no time making an impression, getting behind the defense for a long touchdown from Case Keenum. Haize breaks down: 🐻 Why Caleb Williams sitting makes sense 🎯 What Tyson Bagent needs to show as QB1 Saturday 🛡️ Malik Muhammad getting outside reps opposite Jaylon Johnson 🚀 Kaden Davis’ growing case for a roster spot 🧱 Kiran Amegadjie’s massive preseason opportunity 👀 How Braxton Jones’ return changes the LT battle ⚡ Ray-Ray McCloud making an immediate impact 🏥 Why Chicago is prioritizing health after a brutal run of injuries 🔥 Which young Bears can change their roster outlook against Cleveland The starters may not play much—but for the guys fighting for roles, this preseason game means EVERYTHING. 🎙️ Hosted by Haize 🔔 Subscribe to Chicago Bears Central for Chicago Bears news, training camp updates, preseason coverage, roster battles, injury reports and year-round Bears analysis. Kyler Gordon Situation Gets UGLY?! Ben Johnson RIPS Bears + Stadium News Coming

Is the Kyler Gordon situation becoming a legitimate problem for the Chicago Bears? On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize dives into a report from 104.3 The Score’s Adam Hoge suggesting frustration may be building inside Halas Hall over Gordon’s continued absence. Gordon began training camp on the PUP list while dealing with a soft-tissue issue, and Hoge compared the vibe surrounding his extended absence to the frustration that eventually developed around Nate Davis. That doesn’t mean a trade is coming—but with Malik Muhammad emerging at nickel and Chicago already dealing with major secondary injuries, Gordon’s status is becoming increasingly important. 👀 Then we get an incredible behind-the-scenes look at Ben Johnson’s coaching style with Caleb Williams. During a team meeting, Johnson reportedly tore into an interception from Williams—not simply because Caleb made a bad decision, but because the rest of the offense failed to respond after the turnover. That tells us a LOT about what Johnson is trying to build. 🔥 Accountability 🔥 Effort after mistakes 🔥 All 11 players finishing every play 🔥 No moping 🔥 No complacency after last season’s success Haize breaks down why Johnson’s message wasn’t just about Caleb—it was about creating a championship-level standard throughout the entire roster. We’re also looking ahead to the Bears’ preseason matchup with the Cleveland Browns, where several players have enormous opportunities: 🏃 Roschon Johnson needs to reassert himself in the RB room 🚀 Kaden Davis can continue forcing the Bears to notice him 🧱 Jedrick Wills Jr. can make a serious push for the starting LT job 💪 Jordan van den Berg can prove the training-camp hype is real 🛡️ Malik Muhammad can strengthen his case for a Week 1 role And finally… 🏟️ Could we finally get meaningful Chicago Bears stadium news? The Bears are expected to address their stadium project, with Hammond, Indiana and Arlington Heights remaining central to the ongoing discussion. Will this finally produce clarity—or are Bears fans headed right back into stadium purgatory? 🎙️ Hosted by Haize 🔔 Subscribe to Chicago Bears Central for Bears news, training camp coverage, preseason analysis, roster battles, rumors and year-round Chicago Bears discussion. Bears Camp ERUPTS! Swift Explodes, T.J. Edwards Returns & Coby Bryant News Gets WORSE

The Chicago Bears just completed another intense training camp practice, and Day 12 delivered huge performances, encouraging returns and one devastating injury update. On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down everything Bears fans need to know from Halas Hall. First up: D’Andre Swift looks like he is already in midseason form. Swift ripped off a 38-yard touchdown run while breaking multiple tackles, and reports described him as explosive throughout practice. If this version of Swift carries over into the regular season, Chicago’s rushing attack could become one of the most dangerous elements of Ben Johnson’s offense. The Bears also received another major boost with T.J. Edwards finally returning to 11-on-11 team drills after a lengthy rehabilitation process. Edwards immediately made his presence felt by blowing up a Roschon Johnson run for a tackle for loss. And another young defensive back is taking advantage of Chicago’s injury situation. Undrafted rookie safety Skyler Thomas recorded his first interception of camp, picking off Tyson Bagent while continuing to receive opportunities created by the injuries throughout the Bears secondary. Then we get to two completely different injury stories. 👀 Ozzy Trapilo may be significantly ahead of schedule. Ryan Poles says the Bears have discussed scenarios where Trapilo could potentially return before the end of training camp or sometime in September after initially being expected to miss most of the 2026 season. 🚨 Unfortunately, the news surrounding Coby Bryant is the exact opposite. Bryant underwent knee surgery and is now expected to miss four to six months, with Chicago hoping he could potentially return for the playoffs. Ben Johnson called Bryant a template for the mentality and approach the Bears want throughout their entire team. Plus, Haize dives into why Kyle Monangai could be primed for a major Year 2 jump after rushing for 783 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie. Monangai now has greater familiarity with Ben Johnson’s system, an outstanding offensive line and D’Andre Swift alongside him to keep the entire backfield fresh. And perhaps most importantly, offensive coordinator Press Taylor explains that Chicago does not view the rushing attack merely as a way to stay efficient or control the clock. The Bears want explosive runs. They want to attack fronts, expose space and put pressure on defenses. 🎙️ Hosted by Haize 🔔 Subscribe to Chicago Bears Central for Bears breaking news, training-camp coverage, injury updates, roster battles and year-round Chicago Bears analysis. Ozzy Trapilo Could Return EARLY?! Caleb’s Growth & Bears Young Defenders Are BREAKING OUT

The Chicago Bears may finally be getting some encouraging injury news—and several young defenders are beginning to make serious noise at training camp. On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize reacts to an intriguing update surrounding offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo. After suffering a ruptured patellar tendon during Chicago’s Wild Card victory over Green Bay, Trapilo had been expected to miss most of the 2026 season. But Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer offered an encouraging update from Bears camp, saying Trapilo “might be back sooner than expected.” That could become extremely important for a Bears left-tackle room currently dealing with uncertainty. Braxton Jones has missed multiple practices, while Jedrick Wills Jr. and Kiran Amegadjie have rotated with the first-team offense. Then we get to Caleb Williams. Veteran defensive tackle Grady Jarrett says Caleb’s biggest improvement has been his command of the offense, command of the huddle and growing confidence. After taking a significant step last season and leading the league with six fourth-quarter comebacks, Williams appears to be entering camp with an entirely different level of control. Haize also dives into two young defensive players beginning to force their way into bigger conversations. 💪 Jordan van den Berg continues receiving opportunities with the first-team defense, and if the rookie keeps exceeding expectations, his development could give Chicago badly needed flexibility and depth across the defensive line. 🚀 Ruben Hyppolite II may finally be showing the Bears the player they hoped they drafted. After an extremely quiet first season, Hyppolite reportedly produced his best practice of camp and has a major opportunity to secure a backup linebacker role while injuries thin the competition. Plus: 💰 We break down the fascinating structure of Darnell Wright’s massive contract extension, including the guarantees, bonuses and why Chicago’s decision not to use void years gives the Bears future flexibility. Wright’s deal contains no artificial incentives or escalators, and Chicago can eventually exit the contract without lingering dead money. 👀 And could the Bears add another veteran pass rusher? The episode notes make the case for Chicago pursuing two-time Super Bowl champion Brandon Graham as a rotational defensive end who could provide limited snaps, situational pass rush and veteran leadership for the younger defensive linemen. The notes also acknowledge that the Eagles are considered his most likely destination. 🎙️ Hosted by Haize 🔔 Subscribe to Chicago Bears Central for Chicago Bears news, training-camp updates, roster analysis, injury news, rumors and year-round Bears coverage. Malik Muhammad TAKING OVER?! Xavier Woods Shines As Bears Injuries Keep PILING UP

The Chicago Bears wrapped up their 10th training camp practice with another injury, two Caleb Williams interceptions and several players continuing to force their way into bigger roles. On today’s episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down everything from Day 10 at the Walter Payton Center, where bad weather forced the Bears indoors for roughly two hours of padded practice. The offense had an uneven day, but there were strong performances from D’Andre Swift, Jahdae Walker, Kaden Davis, Xavier Woods and rookie Malik Muhammad. 🚨 Unfortunately, the injury problem continues. Rookie receiver Zavion Thomas suffered an apparent leg injury during seven-on-seven work, briefly grabbed his knee and left with a slight limp before failing to return. His injury joins a growing list that has included Luther Burden III, Montez Sweat, Braxton Jones, Cam Lewis, Coby Bryant and several other Bears. The good news surrounding Luther Burden III is that his groin injury is expected to sideline him for some time rather than endanger his season, with the hope that he can be available for Week 1. Burden’s absence is creating additional opportunities for young receivers such as Jahdae Walker and Kaden Davis. And those receivers are taking advantage. 🚀 Jahdae Walker made a difficult touchdown catch from Caleb Williams during one-on-ones and later caught a deep touchdown after a busted coverage while receiving significant work with the starters. 🔥 Kaden Davis continued his surprising camp with a walk-off 34-yard touchdown from Tyson Bagent and another impressive open-field play earlier in practice. But one of the biggest developments continues to be Malik Muhammad. With Jaylon Jones sidelined, Muhammad received a heavy workload with the first-team defense at nickel, including snaps in Dennis Allen’s dime package. He also got a valuable lesson when Caleb Williams scrambled past him while Muhammad remained locked onto D’Andre Swift in coverage. Is Muhammad simply filling in while the secondary gets healthy—or is the rookie legitimately putting pressure on Kyler Gordon’s nickel role? Meanwhile, veteran safety Xavier Woods made an immediate impression after joining Chicago. Woods intercepted Williams on a Hail Mary-type throw and delivered a huge fourth-down hit on Colston Loveland while working with the starters alongside Dillon Thieneman. Haize also breaks down: 🏃 D’Andre Swift’s explosive practice and why he remains underrated 🎯 Caleb Williams’ two-interception day in context 🛡️ Xavier Woods’ potential role while Coby Bryant is sidelined 🔥 Malik Muhammad’s rapidly increasing first-team workload 🚀 Jahdae Walker and Kaden Davis capitalizing on WR injuries 😰 Another injury to Zavion Thomas 📈 The biggest winners and losers from Bears Week 2 👀 Whether Kyler Gordon could return to a much different nickel situation Swift was reportedly fast and shifty throughout practice and delivered crucial 11- and 15-yard runs during four-minute situational work, continuing what has been described as a strong camp. And although Caleb’s padded work has not been perfect, the episode notes still identify him as one of the Bears’ Week 2 winners because of his command of the offense and the overall improvement he has shown compared with last training camp. 🎙️ Hosted by Haize 🔔 Subscribe to Chicago Bears Central for Bears news, training-camp reports, injury updates, roster battles and year-round Bears coverage.
