Hang on — this thing is absolutely packed with sharp satire and pointed criticism of the genre. Sit back and laugh out loud. Hunt for easter eggs and grin to yourself. Or dig into the themes and nod along seriously. I'm Mako, your movie talk personality. This episode covers #FunnyGames 🎬 A listener request brought us to one of the big ones. Masterpiece? Provocation? Neither label quite fits — this is a film that casually dismantles the very framework of what a film is supposed to be. Director Haneke's intent is well-documented, but knowing it doesn't resolve the harder question: what do you do with that knowledge? How do you watch it? That's what this episode tries to work through. Full disclosure though: Mako's sleepiness had reached catastrophic levels during this recording, and there were stretches where rational thought had largely left the building. Sincere apologies.
