    Antarctica…What Do the Penguins Know?

What if one of the most mysterious places on Earth isn't hidden in a jungle or at the bottom of the ocean, but beneath two miles of Antarctic ice? Antarctica is the coldest, driest, windiest, and one of the least explored places on our planet. It is a continent with no permanent residents, vast areas that remain virtually untouched, mountains and lakes hidden beneath the ice, and long periods of complete darkness. And because so little of Antarctica can be experienced firsthand, it has become the perfect blank canvas for some truly wild theories. In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, Alex and Ashley pull up a chair and head to the bottom of the world to explore some of the strangest mysteries and conspiracy theories surrounding Antarctica. We start with the facts: the history of Antarctica, the Antarctic Treaty, the restrictions surrounding the continent, and the real discoveries that make Antarctica fascinating all on their own. Then things start getting a little more mysterious. We dive into Operation Highjump, the massive U.S. Navy expedition led by Admiral Richard Byrd after World War II, and the theories that claim the expedition encountered something it wasn't supposed to find. We also explore the infamous alleged Byrd diary and its connection to Hollow Earth theories, including stories of hidden worlds, advanced civilizations, prehistoric animals, and mysterious beings beneath the Antarctic ice. Then there's Nazi Germany's Antarctic expedition and the legend of Base 211, a supposed underground facility where Nazi officials allegedly continued their work after World War II. From there, we go even deeper, looking at the real lakes and mountain ranges hidden beneath Antarctica and the conspiracy theories that claim they could be evidence of ancient civilizations or massive underground cities. And if that isn't strange enough, we'll take a look at the mysterious Antarctic pyramids, the infamous ice wall theory, supposed extraterrestrial bases beneath the ice, and the centuries-old Piri Reis map, which some believe may depict Antarctica before its official discovery. But where does fact end and conspiracy begin? Throughout the episode, we're not here to tell you what to believe. We're here to look at the facts, examine the theories, and explore why these stories have captured people's imaginations for so long. Because Antarctica may simply be a frozen wilderness at the bottom of the world. Or maybe the real mystery isn't what we know about Antarctica... It's what we haven't discovered yet. The Andes Crash…72 Days of Survival

In October 1972, a plane carrying a Uruguayan rugby team, their friends, and family crashed high in the Andes Mountains. Of the 45 people on board, only 16 would eventually make it home. But surviving the crash was only the beginning. For 72 days, the survivors battled freezing temperatures, avalanches, starvation, isolation, and conditions that pushed them to the absolute limits of human endurance. With rescue efforts eventually called off, they were left with an impossible choice: find a way out themselves, or die in the mountains. In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, we head into the Andes to uncover what happened after the crash, how the survivors managed to stay alive, and the desperate decisions they were forced to make along the way. This is one of the most incredible survival stories ever told. Pull up a chair and join us on the porch. Send us Fan Mail Pull up a chair and stay awhile. The Skinwalker...The Culture & Legend

This week on Front Porch Mysteries, we’re talking about skinwalkers, but maybe not the version you’ve heard about on TikTok. The skinwalker comes from Navajo tradition, where the subject carries a much deeper and darker meaning than the shapeshifting creature that has taken over modern horror stories. So before we get anywhere near creepy encounters, glowing eyes, or something running alongside a car in the middle of the night, we wanted to start where this story actually comes from. We’ll respectfully explore the Navajo origins of the skinwalker, what can and can’t really be said about the tradition, and the disturbing 1987 murder of Sarah Saganitso, a case in which accusations and fears surrounding skinwalkers became part of the story. Then we’re heading down the internet rabbit hole. How did a specific Navajo belief evolve into a catch-all name for almost anything strange lurking in the woods? Where does Skinwalker Ranch fit into all of this? And how much of what we call a “skinwalker story” today actually has anything to do with the original tradition? From traditional beliefs and a real-life murder case to Skinwalker Ranch, Reddit threads, viral videos, and modern cryptid culture, we’re following the strange evolution of one of the internet’s most recognizable legends. Pull up a chair and stay awhile. This one gets weird. Send us Fan Mail Pull up a chair and stay awhile. Porch Reports…Episode 1

Welcome to the first edition of Porch Reports, a Front Porch Mysteries special where we trade the deep dives for something a little simpler: creepy stories, strange encounters, and the kind of tales that are best told after dark. For our first report, Alex came prepared with a collection of campfire-worthy stories for one very specific purpose: to scare Ashley. But Porch Reports won’t always come from us. We want to hear the strange stories that have happened to you. The thing you saw in the woods. The noise outside your window you still can’t explain. The family story everybody swears is true. The creepy encounter you’ve never quite been able to shake. Got a story for the porch? Send it to hello@frontporchmysteries.com and let us know whether you’re okay with us using your name or if you’d rather stay anonymous. Your story might make its way onto a future Porch Report. For now, pull up a chair, keep an eye on the tree line, and enjoy Porch Reports…Episode 1.  Send us Fan Mail Pull up a chair and stay awhile. Gerald the Dolphin…Ocean’s Most Wanted Landlord?

What if dolphins are a whole lot smarter and stranger than we give them credit for? In this episode, we dive headfirst into one of the weirdest rabbit holes we’ve found yet: dolphin conspiracy theories. It starts with Gerald, a dolphin who allegedly kidnapped a man and forced him to help build an underwater operation. At least, that’s what the man claimed. And somehow, Gerald is only the beginning. From experiments and military programs to bizarre claims about dolphin intelligence, communication, and what they might actually be capable of, we’re sorting through the real history, the rumors, and the theories that have made dolphins the center of some truly wild conspiracies. How much of it is true? How much has grown through years of retelling? And after everything we found, should we really be trusting dolphins as much as we do? Pull up a chair and stay awhile. Lake Lanier...Something Ain't Right

Lake Lanier has a reputation unlike any other body of water in America. Beneath its calm surface lies a flooded landscape of old homes, roads, bridges, cemeteries, and entire communities. Over the decades, hundreds of people have lost their lives there, giving rise to stories of curses, ghosts, and unexplained encounters. In this episode of Front Porch Mysteries, Alex and Ashley dive into the history behind Georgia's most infamous lake. We separate fact from folklore as we explore why Lake Lanier was created, the communities that disappeared beneath the water, the legend of the Lady of the Lake, and the unsettling mysteries that continue to fuel its haunted reputation. Is the lake truly cursed, or is there a more practical explanation for its tragic history? Pull up a chair... but maybe think twice before diving in. Send us Fan Mail Pull up a chair and stay awhile. If the forest suddenly goes silent, leave. And whatever you do… don’t look into the tree line. For generations, these warnings have been shared from porch to porch and family to family, not as stories, but as advice. Whether they’re rooted in superstition, survival, or something far stranger is up to you to decide. Pull up a chair as we explore the eerie rules, legends, and mountain folklore that have made Appalachia one of the most mysterious places in America.
