    4. Why Beauty Standards Are BS and How to Define Your Own

Beauty standards aren’t universal — they change depending on culture, trends, and where you are in the world. When I lived in Japan, I saw firsthand how different the definition of beauty was compared to the U.S. That experience made me realize something important: most beauty standards are socially constructed. So the real question becomes — what is your standard? In this episode, I talk about the difference between society’s beauty standards and creating your own personal beauty standard — the one that actually makes you feel confident, magnetic, and aligned with your personal style. Because while it’s completely normal to have “IDGAF” days, if your everyday baseline leaves you feeling like a 40 or 50 out of 100… it might be time to raise the standard for how you show up for yourself. Think about the moments you’ve felt like a full 90–100/100 — when your makeup was hitting, your outfit felt perfect, and you couldn’t stop looking in the mirror. Those moments hold clues about what truly makes you feel confident and beautiful. In this episode, I’ll walk you through how to break those moments down and turn them into your personal beauty standard — one that isn’t based on trends, social media, or what the world says is beautiful. Beauty isn’t about chasing someone else’s ideal. It’s about defining your own. 1. Coming Home to Myself: My Blasian Experience in Japan

In this first episode of Identity Emergence, I’m sharing the story behind my own identity journey. I was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan as the only Blasian (Black and Japanese) girl I knew growing up. At 18, I left Japan to explore my other culture and attend college in the U.S.—but the deeper truth is, I was trying to escape. I wanted to escape feeling different.I wanted to escape not fitting the “kawaii” beauty standard.I wanted to escape the assumptions people made about me just by looking at my skin. For years, I believed moving to the U.S. would solve my insecurities. But the confidence I found at first was only surface level. It wasn’t until I began my spiritual and self-acceptance journey that I started healing the deeper belief that I wasn’t enough. Nine years later, I returned to Japan and experienced something completely different. For the first time, I felt at home—because I finally felt at home within myself. In this episode, I share:• What it was like growing up Blasian in Japan• The insecurities that shaped my early identity• Why I really left Japan at 18• The limiting belief of “I’m not enough”• My spiritual journey toward self-acceptance• Why returning to Japan now feels deeply healing This is a story about identity, healing, and the journey from escapism to coming home—to my city, and to my soul. ✨ New episodes every Friday!
