It's been a bit, as per our new norm. So happy you're with us. First things first, this is not a controversial episode; it's light and fun! We briefly discuss Halifax's fabulous drag event for children this past weekend and then take a deep dive into our unique, queer identities (who knew there were so many!). Queerness, multifaceted.

When you see a straight presenting couple walking down the street, you assume they're straight, right? Yeah. Us too sometimes. Not cool. After discussing the importance of patience in today's restaurant scene (not at all a queeriosity), today's episode dives into heteronormative assumptions of couples and the intricacies of queer privilege therein. The energy it takes to assess personal safety before divulging one's queerness could be used in so many cooler ways. Ya feel me? Also, Cortado wore it best. Clearly. Someone obviously has better handwriting, you be the judge.

Labels, for containers or for people?

How gay are you really, though? Have you ever felt the need for an internet quiz to confirm your sexual orientation? We did :) JK, but it was interesting. Kaila is "super gay", obv, and Col is supposedly, quite confidently, pansexual. Do these fit? Sure, maybe. But is it empowering to have a label or does it limit us in the freedom to explore our intricate journey of self-discovery? Let's talk about it. Also, we say straight people might not be as straight as they think... oops?

The Future of Sports

The girls are gettin' seriousss! In today's episode, we share a continuation of Sports Part 1. Beyond the division of teams by sex and/or gender being dangerous and, at its foundation, misogynous, it is exclusionary to the max. How can we say that we work according to the rights of the child when we continue to create spaces where genderqueer, trans, nonbinary students literally do. not. have. a. space. to be included?? It's whacko. Let's talk about it. Oh, and yes, we are the change. Let's get louder about this. Plz. Thx.

Sherman, one of Col's dearest besties and queer educator extraordinaire, joins us to add a rural Nova Scotian queer perspective to our chat. Part Two! Ouf - do we have a lot to say. In this episode, Kaila and Colleen share what their trail-blazing friends are doing to break gender limitations, explore the ever-frustrating clothing industry and paint a perplexing mental image of Kaila in ruby red ballet flats and a puffy shouldered blouse.
