    He's Just Like Every Other Politician

    Welcome back! What better way to get back into it than catching up on what's been going on, and talking about the current state of the world and of NYC. We have Dimez and Relly online for this first episode, and expect Rudy to be back for the next one! Dimez tells us about their recent moves, new apartment, and what's been going on with Stonewall Was A Riot. We hear about Relly's recent actions - he's back outside protesting and the NYPD is ramping up their response each week. The online response has also been ramping up. Relly has been protesting for Police Commissioner Tisch to be fired and for the CCRB to have the final say in police disciplinary review, but his eyes are also on Mamdani, who continues to walk back on his campaign commitments. We talk about these broken promises and Mamdani's run in office so far until the Coned construction workers outside on the street accidentally cut the power to the block and cut our conversation a bit short.     From the military occupation of DC and Trump’s threats to expand to Chicago, NYC, and Baltimore, to more Eric Adams corruption, there was a lot to cover! We get updates from Relly and Rudy on their lives and work, then get into federal agents on the ground in DC. We discuss the occupation in comparison with the current reality on the ground with the NYPD in NYC. We discuss online activists vs content creators vs activists on the ground. What is the line between doing the work and just trying to profit off of a reputation? We discuss the situation in NYC with folks being called out on multiple fronts for taking advantage of the movement and of people. We discuss white activists defending this behavior from other white activists, all while profiting off of Black and brown people. Eric Adams new campaign strategy is to pander to Black people in NYC, including going around handing out money with influencers and not including putting any actual effort into helping Black people. We talk about the mindsets of young kids in the city today, what it feels like to have fewer and fewer options before you.     We’re back with an interview with Carla Marie Davis, New York City political content creator and organizer. Carla describes her journey from fashion into local politics, creating a practice of self-care amidst the capitalist system taking a toll on physical and mental health, and the role of social media in engaging the community. She tells us why she is drawn to get involved in local politics and why we can’t make politicians into celebrities and the importance and feasibility of holding them accountable. Dimez recounts their firsthand experience of a certain politician's appearance at pride marches this past month. We talk about staying up to date with politics, Zohran Mamdani’s campaign in the democratic primary, the ICE crisis, and the intersections of anti-Blackness and immigration. We also talk about art, the role of culture in collective action, and the exploitation of art by capitalism - struggling to survive without compromising on values, and so much more.     First off, RELLYS BIG CASE HAS BEEN DISMISSED! Hear the inside scoop as Relly tells us what’s next now that he has this case off of his back. Rudy brings up his current read, Days of Rage, which he picked up after reading about the Mississippi Freedom Movement - “We Will Shoot Back” (watch ep 70!). Rudy relates it to an American man caught in Israel trying to firebomb the Israeli Embassy - who posted it online. We look back on the tragic murder of George Floyd, the subsequent uprising, and the fall off of attention and activism relating to the police oppression and genocide of Black people in Amerikkka and globally. Relly had an important and impactful protest for George Floyd and Palestine on Sunday. We discuss the relation of the Gaza genocide to the genocide of indigenous peoples on this land, and the ongoing genocide against Black and Indigenous people in this country. Things are getting so bad over here, other countries are trying to cut themselves off from the US, even on the internet!
