Episode 49 - Winnie the Pooh Is Worth HOW MUCH?

This week on Joint Thoughts, things get VERY questionable. We kick things off with a horrifying bathroom story involving a stubborn wipe, hand sanitiser and why Japanese toilets might genuinely be one of humanity's greatest inventions. Then we put our knowledge to the test with a new game: which massive pop-culture IP has made the most money? Pokémon, Star Wars, Hello Kitty, Harry Potter, Winnie the Pooh, Fortnite and more go head-to-head — and some of the answers are absolutely ridiculous. We also take on a quiz about Cockney rhyming slang, debate where it came from, and discover just how many bizarre phrases we somehow still use today. Later, we talk about the experience of going to a proper pub quiz, suspiciously intelligent old people, terrible quiz questions, gaming, and the current obsession with new releases. And finally, we get into driving — including driving anxiety, intensive lessons and the fear of eventually having to share the road with everyone else. Basically, it's another episode of two blokes talking absolute shit about everything. Episode 47 - We Can’t Outrun The Uprising

🎙️ Joint Thoughts Podcast – Episode 47 This week on Joint Thoughts, Dan & Ryan go down one hell of a rabbit hole — starting with why we never seem to grow out of gaming, childhood gaming memories and whether getting older eventually makes you lose interest in the things you once loved. From there, we get into the games we're hyped for, including Wolverine, GTA and everything else on the gaming horizon, before going deep on what makes the modern Spider-Man games so special and debating the best Spider-Man on screen — Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield or Tom Holland. We also talk Miles Morales, the future of Spider-Man, Marvel's changing characters and whether changing established characters actually works. Then things get a little more futuristic… 🤖 AI is taking over, and we're not sure whether we should be excited or terrified. We talk about AI-generated TV shows, music and video, AI voices, deepfakes, and what happens when technology becomes so convincing that we can't tell what's real anymore. We even get into Boston Dynamics-style robots, the possibility of AI completely changing movies and entertainment, and whether we'd eventually watch an entire podcast recreated by AI. And, because it's Joint Thoughts, somehow we end up talking about everything from gaming and nostalgia to robots hunting us down in the streets 😂 🔥 In this episode: 🎮 Why gaming never really gets old 🕹️ Childhood gaming nostalgia 🎮 Upcoming games we're hyped for 🕷️ Spider-Man & the evolution of superhero games 🕸️ Tobey Maguire vs Andrew Garfield vs Tom Holland 🧑🏿‍🦱 Miles Morales and the future of Spider-Man 🤖 AI-generated movies, music & TV 🧠 Why AI voices feel so weird 🦾 The terrifying future of humanoid robots 🎬 Could AI eventually replace Hollywood? 📺 Would you watch an entirely AI-generated TV show? 😂 Plenty of completely unnecessary arguments along the way Joint Thoughts Podcast is Dan & Ryan just sitting down, chatting shit, making jokes, sharing stories and talking about whatever is on their minds. If you enjoy the episode, LIKE 👍, SUBSCRIBE 🔔 and drop a comment with your thoughts. Who would you choose as Spider-Man? And would you actually watch a completely AI-generated movie if it was indistinguishable from a real one? #JointThoughtsPodcast #Podcast #Gaming #AI #SpiderMan #Marvel #GTA #Wolverine #PlayStation #GamingPodcast #Technology #ArtificialIntelligence

Episode 46 - China Spent £60 BILLION on This Last Year

In this episode, we get into a bit of everything. We start with the surprising amount of money spent on cigarettes in China and the strange relationship between tobacco, government, health and big business. From there, we talk about Cristiano Ronaldo and the responsibility that comes with being one of the most influential people in the world. We then get into the idea of modern role models, discussing people like John Cena, Tom Hardy, Keanu Reeves, IShowSpeed and MrBeast, and whether influencers and celebrities are still the people kids should be looking up to. We also debate whether filming charity work makes a good deed less genuine, or whether the end result is what really matters. The conversation moves into engagement farming, rage bait and the constant battle for clicks and attention online, before turning to the UK's recent heat, drought and wildfires and a wider discussion about climate change. Then things take a turn when one of us tells the story of meeting a genuine flat Earther in a chippy. We get into moon landings, pilots, the Earth's rotation, eclipses and why some people simply don't question how the world around them works. That leads into a wider conversation about curiosity, travelling, different cultures, architecture, language and whether technology could eventually remove language barriers altogether. We also talk about a secret cinema screening, Anthony Bourdain, upcoming Marvel films, Doctor Doom, Galactus, Fantastic Four and whether Marvel might finally be getting back on track. As always, it's a mixture of opinions, random stories, arguments, observations and conversations that somehow end up going in completely unexpected directions. Topics covered: China's cigarette industry Tobacco, health and government Cristiano Ronaldo and celebrity influence Modern role models MrBeast and filming charity Engagement farming and rage bait UK heat, drought and wildfires Climate change Meeting a flat Earther Moon landings and conspiracy theories Science and curiosity Travel and different cultures Language and AI translation Secret cinema screenings Anthony Bourdain Marvel, Doctor Doom and Galactus Fantastic Four What makes a great actor Subscribe for more Joint Thoughts Podcast episodes and follow the conversation in the comments.
