Chittranjan Das

This famous Indian was also known as "Deshbandhu" which means friend of the nation. Chittranjan Das was a freedom fighter, Lawyer and i poet. Das was the first recipient of Bharat Ratan. He was the founder of Swaraj party along side Motilal Nehru. He was born in a family associated to Brahmo Samaj. After completing his degree form Presidency College Calcutta, he went to London to study Law. There he met with Indian freedom fighters like Sri Aurobindo, Sarojini Naidu, and Dadabhai Nouroji. During Non Cooperation movement he was the initiator to boycott European goods and burn all his European clothes and starting donning Khadi clothes. After dissociating with Indian National Congress due to withdrawal of Civil Disobedience Movement by Mahatma Gandhi, he formed the Swaraj party and continued his fight for freedom. Birbal's Guru (बीरबल के गुरु)

When Akbar’s guru paid him a visit from Mecca for a few days, it starts to intrigue Akbar to find out the details of Birbal’s guru who has tutored such a wise person. So when he questioned Birbal about his master’s whereabouts, Birbal informed him that his guru always remained silent and never goes out to any place. Akbar requested Birbal to introduce him to his guru. On the way back home, Birbal saw a humble woodcutter and pleased by him, Birbal converted his attire to that of a Brahmin and made him sit on the pedestal of a big temple and directed him to remain silent under all circumstances. When Birbal brought Akbar to meet the monk, Akbar decided to test the monk and lure him with gold. But following Birbal’s directions, monk paid no heed to Akbar’s repeated offers and continued to meditate. Angrily Akbar left the monk alone thinking him to be a fool. Akbar and Birbal's First Meeting (अकबर बीरबल की पहली मुलाक़ात)

Everyone knows tons of stories of how Akbar and Birbal made a formidable pair and their witty stories are quite famous. But we bring to you the real story of how Akbar and Birbal really met the first time. On a bright summer day, Akbar decided to go hunting with his companions but they were unable to trace any wild animals in the woods. They were all tired and thirsty so Akbar decided to visit the nearest village in search of water. On their way to the village, they found a young boy, whose name was Mahesh Das, carrying a pile of woods. Akbar asked him if there is any lake nearby and the boy happily agreed to take them to the lake. The boy had no idea who Akbar was, so he cross-questioned him when Akbar asked the little boy what his name was. Akbar and his companions reached the lake and finally quenched their thirst. Akbar gave a ring to that boy, asked him to meet him when he grows up and left. Upon looking at the ring, the boy realized who Akbar was and started to run after his troop but they were far gone. After years, when Mahesh Das grew older, he decided to visit Akbar's court. After a long journey, he reached the court and saw Akbar in between a court meeting so he decided to stand in a corner. Akbar asked his fellow noblemen "What is the most beautiful flower on earth?" Some answered rose, some lotus, some jasmine but Mahesh Das suggested that in his opinion it is the cotton flower. The entire court started laughing at his answer and told that cotton flowers are colorless and got no odor. Mahesh Das then explained how useful cotton flowers are. Cotton grown from this flower is used to make clothes for people in summer as well as in winter. Akbar was impressed with his witty answer and asked his name. Mahesh Das then introduced himself and referred to the time when he met King Akbar. Akbar then happily appointed him as one of the noblemen in his court. Later, Mahesh Das came to be known as Birbal. One day Akbar decided to test Birbal again and posed three questions in front of him Where does God live?How can you find God?What does God do? Next day, Birbal’s son volunteers to answers these questions in the court in place of Birbal. To answer the first question, Birbal’s son ordered a cup of milk and sugar. For the second question, he used curd and for the third and final question, Birbal’s son swapped positions with Akbar. For every answer, Birbal’s son made use of impressive examples and in the end, Akbar had to agree on the intelligence that Birbal and his son have. Lazy Jack

Written by: Flora Annie Steel Once upon a time, a boy named Jack lived with his mother who got her living by spinning. But Jack was very lazy and did nothing, so people called him Lazy Jack. Finally, Jack got some work for a day on a farm but he lost his earnings of a penny on the way. His mother suggested he keep his earnings in his pocket for next time. The next day Jack hired himself to a cow keeper, who gave him a jar of milk for his day's work. Jack put the jar in his pocket, spilling it all before he got home. The mother then suggested carrying it on his head. Jack continued to hire himself, squandering all of his earnings until one day he received a donkey and was carrying it back home on his shoulders. He walked past a mansion where a wealthy man lived with his deaf and dumb daughter. She had never laughed before, and the doctors predicted that she would not speak until she was made to laugh. As a result, her father had declared that any man who could make her laugh would be given her hand in marriage. When the lady looked out the window, she noticed Jack with the donkey on his shoulders, and the sight was so amusing that she burst out laughing, regaining her speech and hearing almost immediately. Her father was overjoyed and fulfilled his promise by marrying her to Lazy Jack, who was thus made a rich gentleman. They lived in a large house, and Jack's mother lived with them in great happiness.
