NEURODIVERSE: Borderline Personality Disorder — What the Textbook Says vs What It Feels Like

What does Borderline Personality Disorder actually feel like to live with? In the first episode of my NEURODIVERSE series, I take a deep dive into BPD — moving beyond diagnostic terminology to explore the human reality behind it. We look at emotional dysregulation, fear of abandonment, relationships, anger, impulsivity, identity, emptiness, dissociation, stigma, treatment and recovery. Alongside the clinical understanding, I explore anonymous lived experiences from people with BPD and share extensively from my own life: where the textbook reflects my experience, where it doesn't, and what I've learned from living through it. This is a long-form episode because I didn't want to reduce a complicated condition — or the people living with it — to a checklist of symptoms. A clarification about NICE: During the episode I refer several times to NICE. NICE is the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, a public body that produces evidence-based guidance and recommendations for health and social care in England. At points during the recording I may incorrectly refer to NICE alongside, or as, a charity. That description is incorrect. The clinical guidance attributed to NICE in the episode is being discussed as guidance from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. This episode is intended for education and discussion and includes personal lived experience. It is not medical advice and should not be used for self-diagnosis. The diagnosis is information. It isn't identity. It isn't morality. And it isn't destiny. Daywalkers. Creatures of the Night. Warriors. Welcome to NEURODIVERSE.

“Master Your Mind or Lose It | Marcus Aurelius’ Warning”

Before self-help books… before motivational speakers… before the noise of the modern world… there was a man sitting in the quiet, writing to himself. In this episode, we step into the mind of Marcus Aurelius — a Roman emperor who faced war, plague, betrayal, and pressure… yet chose discipline over chaos, clarity over reaction, and control over emotion. This isn’t history for the sake of history. This is about now. In a world driven by instant reactions, constant judgement, and endless distraction, Marcus offers something rare — a way to stay grounded when everything around you is pulling you apart. We explore: Why we react to everything — and how to stop The difference between what you can control and what you can’t How ego quietly sabotages your growth Why thinking about death can actually sharpen your life And how these ancient principles tie directly into recovery, discipline, and becoming a stronger version of yourself This episode isn’t about being perfect. It’s about becoming steady. Because the world will always be loud… But you don’t have to be. Questions to reflect on: Where in your life are you reacting instead of choosing? What are you trying to control that was never yours? And who do you become… when nobody is watching?
