Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip! This week Pip is joined by author, journalist and producer DANNY WALLACE! Hard to pin down what professions you'd attribute to Danny but that's a start anyway... Danny joined Pip back in 2015 for episode 30 which seems unfathomable but it's true. So of course, in 9 years, obviously stuff's basically the same and there's weirdly nothing to talk about. OF COURSE I'm being silly. It could have gone on for about the duration of Danny's audiobook, but a line must be drawn somewhere. His book 'Somebody Told Me' explores the world of the conspiracy theory, detailing the many elements contained in this wide world, and he and Pip have much to say on the subject. It's a fascinating episode with not all doom and gloom, so fear not - you won't leave sad. If this is an area that intrigues you though, it's essential listening and a timely reminder to keep your wits about you as you navigate this world, especially in the realms of social media. What is interesting too is how this stuff has always been happening - but certain factors of modern life can amplify it, including isolation. Take some notes when you listen - and remember not only to tell people what you heard by saying "I heard on this podcast that...", but to end each sentence with an enigmatic "You'll see...". To celebrate the release of their 'Live In Places' live recordings compendium and physical release, Dan and Pip met up in physical form to talk about all things past, present and future in equal balance. It's not a stream of "Do you remember that time..." either, it goes way beyond that but expect some expert tangent taking though! So much life has happened since they got together to make their first releases, and since locking in on their individual paths, there have been huge departures from as well as continuations into what came before. It's lovely that all is amicable and supportive and while, as said in the episode title to quote Uncle LL Cool J, it is not a comeback (they been here for years), it is a reunion of sorts and a truly delightful one at that. Kaitlyn's been putting down serious moves since childhood, including a Shakespeare stint at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts for those pondering), and her filmography is stellar - ranging from Justified, to Dopesick, to Unbelievable, and more recently Ticket To Paradise (starring alongside Julia Roberts and George Clooney, where the cinema screen actually cracks midway through from so much gorgeous). This is a lovely chat, properly engaging and it's such a treat to hear Kaitlyn's story. OH and as Pip hints at in the intro, prepare for a Kaitlyn fact that will blow yer mind.
