Cop A Squat

Feeling like you don't have a voice? Like your life isn't complete? Like you can never do enough or what you do isn't good enough? Like you're missing something or like you can't shake that last call? The screams still echoing or you still see the blood when you close your eyes? I feel you. That's real talk bro, so let's rap. It's rare that you find a group of like minded individuals that are willing to do life with you. It is even more rare of a thing for you all to share a common goal. For these select few men that I've chosen to come along side me, we share a mission. A desire. A want to combat mental health. We want to bring to light the reality of mental health complications for those of us in the first responder community, military, or just men doing life. We want to offer you a place to come and sit with us. Talk about life. Talk about the shit. The shit that keeps us up late. The shit that no matter what smile we show or lie we tell; it still eats at our soul. Let's attack that shit together. Make a community of men AND women devoted to the betterment of mental health awareness, what options are available to you in those times of need or in times of maintenance. In this podcast you'll learn about us. Who we are. You'll hear about us and our shit, our imperfections, trials and tribulations. But also. You'll hear our successes. We police this community and its homes and streets. But its time we serve and protect each others hearts and minds. After all, we're in this for the long haul. God willing. CopASquat

Episode 3 - Lets talk PEER support!

A big part of growth and therapy honestly comes from the most minute and subtle action that most of us overlook; talking. Conversation in itself is a therapy. If we don't communicate or air out our struggles to those we care about or to people we trust, then we just begin that process of suppression. We begin to suppress our emotions, our thoughts, what we're going through and then our own destruction comes from the inisde-out. Then what comes out is only that much more toxic to our lives and those closest too us. We have to communicate. We have to have those around us that we're willing to do life with and get dirty with our struggles. If not we'll only dig the holes deeper into our depression, anxiety, hopelessness; which in turn can lead us down roads that unfortunately has taken the lives of men and women we hold dear. I refuse to let that pattern continue. On today's episode we focus on accountability and Peer Support. We focus on the importance of communicating to those around us what we're struggling with and the power in conversation. We visit peer support through the eyes of someone in leadership role not only in that program but our own department. We hear stories and resources avaiblae to men and women like us. Let's not allow more of us to be drowned in our own fears of imperfection and doubt. Let's change the stigma from internal suppression to liberation of self. As always. Move forward and much love! Episode 2 - Your WHY

Why? Why do you do what you do? Why do you get up day after day? What comes over you to velcro your vest and strap your boots up when your body is sore, your hips ache, your head is pounding from the hours of overtime because someone got shot before your shift ended and people are yelling from behind the tape that its your fault; even when you're the one trying to save the victim. Why? Why do you not see yourself doing anything else? Why when you've been grinding day after day and the old heads say it doesn't matter, sleep it off, drink it down, we did you can too; why still say send me? When you've been shouting orders for people to listen to you, going door to door checking for someone who just tried to kill multiple people, you've plugged wounds, pulled your brother out of his 1000-yard stare after seeing a baby shot, had to free up and transition to knock out the pending less priority calls only to come home and struggle to hide your decompression so your family thinks you're handeling everything fine. Why? We all have a why. Whether we recognize it or not or even have forgotten it.. It's there. Remember it. Hold it close to the vest. Let it keep you in check. Listen to our why and reflect on your own. If you want to shoot us videos of your why or want your story told anonymously; share. We'd all love to know why. @Cop A Squat #mentalhealth #brotherhood #MensMentalHealthMattersToo #bluelivesmatter #accountability #igotyoursix #marriage #cantstopwontstop #hardestworkerintheroom #grind #mindset #mentalhealthawareness
