    Episode 2: The Swim Test

    Dear Kelly, I have made zero human friends. Director Sue insists that Mookie halt reportage and “make friends”, which seems easier said than done. Worst of all, Director Sue has spoken the five worst words in the English language: “it’s the swim test today”. Not eager to get in the lake where The Lady is lurking around, hungry for a legacy camper; Mookie decides to follow Director Sue’s directive by including other campers in her investigation.

    Dear Kelly, They really, really hate me! Mookie arrives at Camp Cartwright and quashes any hopes of being cool or even accepted. Late at night, after Fanny has fallen asleep, the girls tell Mookie the legend of the Lady in the Lake and the girl who went missing from camp 25 years ago. Is it not Mookie’s responsibility as a budding young reporter to get to the bottom of this? If she can’t be at journalism camp this summer, she decides to bring journalism to camp instead.

    Dear Kelly, I think I’m in trouble. After kinda sorta ruining the play, Mookie gets an earful from Director Sue, who is still clearly covering a secret, and Mookie can tell it’s a biggie.
