Laura Kissmann is a Quantum Nutritionist and fellow Quantum Health Coach, using the power of nutrition and biology to promote wellness. Together, they host the Quantum Healthy Podcast with a mission to "Demystify Quantum Biology for Health and Recovery," aiming to heal both people and the planet. Today, they share with us the importance of natural light for mitochondrial health and overall wellness, the negative effects of non-native EMFs and blue light on circadian rhythms, sleep, and overall health, and they give some free, practical tips you can start today to begin improving your quantum health. In this episode, you will hear: Quantum biology is the intersection of quantum physics and biology. It is an emerging academic field that produces compelling evidence that quantum effects are taking place in human bodies. Do the simple things that get the biggest results. They will improve your life in every aspect. We need to balance the blue light we are using every day with natural, healthy light outside every single day. We are batteries made of water, charged by sunlight. Your light environment is key to your circadian rhythm. Why you should open your windows or go outside to get sunlight and how a closed window is like blue light. Most quantum things are free - start there. Even 30 seconds of direct sunlight during the day can help your body reorient itself in time. Post-acute withdrawal syndrome has the same symptoms as blue light toxicity.     Scott Zimmerman is an optics engineer with over 35 years of experience in the industry and over 80 US patents. In the last decade, Scott has turned his attention to how light interacts with the body. This has led him to becoming an expert on the physiology of melatonin and how NIR/IR light propagates through living tissue. Scott is an expert in optics and has focussed his attention on quantifying the health effects of natural sunlight. Scott has unparalleled knowledge about how light interacts with systems. His innovations and inventions have been used successfully in a wide range of military and commercial products that include night vision displays, liquid crystal display backlighting designs, and lighting fixtures. More recently, he has been working closely with world-renowned researchers in the field of biology, looking closely at the relationship between natural light rich in near-infrared, melatonin and cortisol. His publications are alongside Professor Russel Reiter, the world’s expert in melatonin. Scott’s insights are profound and are changing the way we perceive our relationship with light and why we are yet to get a grip on diseases of modern life.     E48 Water: The Matrix and Engine of Life - Pioneer in Water Research Jerry Pollack

    Gerald Pollack is a pioneer when it comes to water research. Pollack received his PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He then joined the University of Washington faculty and is now professor of Bioengineering. He has received an honorary doctorate in 2002 from Ural State University in Ekaterinburg, Russia, and has been named an Honorary Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences and foreign member and Academician of the Srpska Academy. He received the Biomedical Engineering Society’s Distinguished Lecturer Award in 2002. In 2008, his colleagues chose him as the recipient of his university’s highest annual distinction; the UW Faculty Lecturer Award. Pollack is a Founding Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and a Fellow of both the American Heart Association and the Biomedical Engineering Society. He received an NIH Director’s Transformative R01 Award. He was the 2012 recipient of the Prigogine Medal for thermodynamics of dissipative systems, and in 2014 he received the Scientific Excellence Award from the World Academy of Neural Therapy, as well as the Dinsdale Prize from the Society for Scientific Exploration. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal WATER. The Executive Director of the Institute for Venture Science; and founder of the Annual Conference on the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology of Water. He has authored several books, most notably 'Cells, Gels and the Engines of Life' as well as 'The Fourth Phase of Water'.     A scientist, researcher, author, inventor, and leader in the field of light science, Dr. Martin Moore-Ede, M.D., Ph.D., has been a leading expert on circadian clocks and their regulation by light for over 40 years.  As a professor at Harvard Medical School (1975 – 1998), he led the team that located the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), the biological clock in the human brain that controls the timing of sleep and wake.
