    Should we eat ultra-processed food?

What is your ultra-processed guilty pleasure? Many of us love home-cooked food, but when we're in a rush, it's often more convenient to eat snacks, or to buy quick, easy meals from the supermarket which we simply have to heat up. These are often ultra-processed forms of food, which recent studies have linked to poor health. Phil and Pippa discuss this and teach you some new vocabulary. Think Like a Champion, Speak English Like One

What does it take to think like a champion? This book will change how you think about SUCCESS — and your English. AJ's English Book Club starts "The Champion's Mind" by Jim Afremow. Champions don't just train their bodies. They train their MINDS. And that's exactly what this book teaches — the same mental skills used by Olympic athletes, pro sports stars, and peak performers in every field. And here's the connection: these mental skills are EXACTLY what you need to master English. Confidence. Visualization. A growth mindset. Feeding the positive wolf, not the negative one. This is the FUEL that powers your English speaking success. In this episode, we cover Chapters 1 and 2 — and I teach you important English vocabulary from the book along the way. You learn English AND you learn powerful success strategies at the same time. That's the Book Club way. 📖 CHAPTER 1 — "Be Your Own Champion" The Champion Question: What will your life look like when you have become your own champion? This chapter teaches you to take personal responsibility, win ONE day at a time, stop waiting, and focus on present excellence. "Excellence can be achieved only today." Not tomorrow. Not next week. TODAY. 📖 CHAPTER 2 — "Master the Mental Skills" 12 science-backed mental skills every champion needs. Goal setting. Building confidence through preparation and practice. The powerful "Good. Better. Best." process: (1) What did I do well? (2) What can I improve? (3) What specific changes will I make? Plus the two wolves parable, visualization techniques, and building unshakeable self-belief. Here's what you'll learn in this episode: ✅ Key vocabulary from Chapters 1 and 2 (learn English naturally) ✅ The Champion Question that changes how you think about life ✅ Why winning ONE day at a time beats big long-term plans ✅ The 12 mental skills that separate champions from everyone else ✅ The "Good. Better. Best." framework for daily improvement ✅ How to feed your positive wolf and starve the negative one ✅ Why these mental skills will transform your English confidence This is psychology. This is the FUEL. Method alone is not enough to speak English powerfully. You need the right mindset — and this book gives it to you. 📚 Get the book: "The Champion's Mind" by Jim Afremow Read along with us and join the Book Club conversation. 🔥 GET MY BOOK FREE: https://EffortlessEnglishClub.com/7rules (Enter your email → Download free) 📚 Power English Course (full audio lesson system): https://EffortlessEnglishClub.com 💼 Business English Course (career, interviews, meetings): https://EffortlessEnglishClub.com/businessenglish 🗣️ Pronunciation Course (near-native American accent): https://EffortlessEnglishClub.com/pronunciation-course 📱 Follow Effortless English everywhere: 🔴 YouTube: @AJHogeEffortlessEnglish 🟣 Instagram: @effortlessenglishclub 🔵 Facebook: /effortlessenglish ⚫ TikTok: @ajhoge.effortlessenglish 🔵 LinkedIn: /in/effortlessenglish I'm A.J. The Scramble for Africa (English Vocabulary Lesson)

In the 1870s, about ten percent of Africa had been colonised by European countries. But over the next few decades, over ninety percent of the continent was taken, occupied, divided, and partitioned by governments far away in places like London, Berlin, and Paris. We call this period in history the “Scramble for Africa.” In a remarkably short period of time, countries like Britain, France, Germany, and Belgium claimed vast territories for themselves without any input from African people. By 1914, only a handful of places remained independent, while most of Africa was ruled as colonies. How did this happen so quickly? And what were the consequences of dividing an entire continent in this way? These are the questions we’ll explore in today’s episode of Thinking in English! But when it is time to speak… you freeze. You are a lion at home. A mouse in English. In this audio, I reveal the hidden reason most English learners stay stuck — and it is NOT what you think. It is not grammar. It is not vocabulary. It is not listening. It is something much deeper. Something inside you. #375 Are Native Speakers Lying to You?

In Episode 370, we covered a lot of common mistakes that native speakers make in their English, and today is the much requested part 2. We'll be looking at a few areas or regional dialects, grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary, that seem to be mistakes in native speaker speech. Some of these are known mistakes and done out of laziness, some of these might be considered a natural part of how language changes and evolves over time. But the real question is - are any of these okay for learners to make? We'll be covering all of this in today's episode. Show notes page - https://levelupenglish.school/podcast375 🇬🇧 NEW!
