    84 Years Old, 90 Days Out, and a Senator Still Coached His Vote | 9/17/26

    A GOP senator leaned over and told Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) how to vote. The clerk still couldn’t hear him. This is day three back for an 84-year-old senator after more than 90 days away — a fall, pneumonia, two months in the hospital, and a wheelchair through the Capitol. The Senate Agriculture Committee had already stalled the farm bill without him. On Wednesday, they needed that vote. So they brought him in, called his name, and the country watched Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) lean in with “no” while McConnell quietly said “aye,” then had to say it again louder because nobody caught it the first time. The bill cleared 12-11, party lines. The question is why Republicans keep pretending this is just a tough recovery and not a fitness problem. If a Democrat this frail needed a neighbor to coach a roll call, this network would not be told to look away. Farm policy, nutrition fights, and a chamber that already runs on people who should have gone home years ago — and the party of “common sense” wheels a man in because the math is 12-11.     James Talarico was asked one question at a Texas campaign stop: Who’s your favorite drag queen in the state? He didn’t hesitate. “Oh my gosh. Probably Alyssa Edwards.” Watch the clip. The Democratic Senate nominee in Texas had a name in under a second — and he smiled when he said it. The performer he picked, Alyssa Edwards, has described himself as a drag performer who works with children.     Talarico Wanted a Condemnation. Paxton Read Him His Own Record | 9/14/26

    James Talarico thought he had Ken Paxton in a box. After GOP Railroad Commission of Texas nominee Bo French posted a photo from the UT student section and said the problem in Texas is “far worse than anyone imagined,” Talarico quoted John Cornyn and went straight at Paxton: Condemn this “blatant racism,” or “cower to extremists.” Paxton didn’t take the bait. He condemned racism — then pointed at Talarico’s own record. White men as America’s top terror threat.     1,651 Identified. Nearly 7,000 9/11 Fragments Still Unmatched | 9/11/26

    Twenty-five years later, one lab three miles from Ground Zero is still identifying 9/11 victims. The lab promised the families it would never give up — and it hasn't. Mark Desire and the NYC medical examiner team are still pulling DNA from tiny bone fragments that the fire, jet fuel, and water nearly destroyed. Last month, the team identified the 1,651st victim.
