    Politics and Religion (Two Negatives Equals a Positive)

    Two of the more controversial topics, religion and politics. But if you talk about both of them at the same time it's not offensive or triggering at all. So, NewWayStories wades into the dangerous waters. They talk through what it means to be a "Christian Nationalist." They talk about trying to pass legislature based on your moral code. They try to have a level headed conversation where disagreements don't lead to fist fights. Boring, but it's our life. Listen. Leave a comment and join the conversation. ben- one thing I didn’t make clear is that I consider myself a conservative before a Republican mainly because party values can shift over time, like how the Democratic Party has changed from what it once stood for and now seems more focused on being anti-Trump. I also meant to say that I don’t always vote strictly along party lines. most of the time I do, but not out of blind loyalty or ignorance. another point I wanted to make but didn’t, is that many liberals have turned politics into their religion. you could say some conservatives also place too much focus on politics almost to the point of worship but for many on the left it goes deeper. as society has become more secular and detached from God, people seek meaning and purpose elsewhere often finding it in political causes, legislation, activism, and global movements. these things become their substitute for faith, their "god". having controlled much of the media and cultural narrative for so long, there’s little accountability or challenge to their beliefs. as a result, they invest so much of their identity and emotion into these causes that their political devotion can start to resemble fundamentalism or even radicalism. we may discuss this in a later episode. but probably not.
