Folklore was never simply entertainment. These stories survived because they carried wisdom. They were maps of the human experience guiding us through grief, transformation, initiation, love, loss, power and becoming. This month we will step inside those stories and discover what they still have to teach us. https://patreon.com/TheHedgeandHollow?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink For PR, Media, general enquiries please email me at carly@thewhitewitchcompany.co.uk Find me on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thewhitewitchpodcast/?hl=en-gb   Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. 3. Mermaids

    22 May

    Mermaids

In today’s episode we descend beneath the tides to explore the world of mermaids — their folklore, symbolism and the magic that surrounds them. This episode also ties into my current Sea Witch work and upcoming Litha zine The Book of Tides, where we explore mermaids, selkies, water magic, sea folklore and the many sacred forms of magical water used within witchcraft and folk practice. Over on Patreon this month we descend beneath the tides with our new theme - Sea Witch. Throughout May we will be exploring the magic of the sea through guided meditation, folklore, plant magic, ritual, glamour, tides and oceanic witchcraft. Together we will journey into the liminal space between shore and sea, working with the subconscious, emotional alchemy and the deep, magnetic energy of the ocean. This month includes a guided meditation journey beneath the waves, sea plant lore exploring kelp and bladderwrack, a deep dive podcast episode on sea witchcraft and a Sea Witch Glamour & Power ritual focused on embodiment, magnetism, beauty and feminine ocean energy. In this month’s Circle on Thursday 28th May from 7pm within the Witches Who Run With the Wolves tier, we gather beside the tides to reclaim the lost skin of the self.  Together we will journey through a guided selkie meditation of remembrance and return — a journey into the deep waters of intuition, identity, longing, and reclamation.  This circle may stir themes of reclaiming hidden parts of yourself, releasing old identities, reconnecting with intuition, and remembering who you were before survival became your shape.  The circle will include a guided selkie meditation, journal prompts, tarot and oracle reflection. I will pull cards for the collective circle, and you are very welcome to bring your own tarot or oracle cards to pull for yourself during the evening.  A Zoom link will be posted on the morning of the circle and a replay will be available the following day for those unable to attend live.  This gathering is available through the Witches Who Run With the Wolves tier on Patreon.  Join here - https://www.patreon.com/c/TheHedgeandHollow?redirect=true My new zine Beneath the Hawthorn Tree is out now, in this zine my zine covers an in-depth look at  Beltane and how you can celebrate it, all of its magickal associations, related deities, herbs, flowers, foods, crystals, trees, animals and journal and tarot prompts for Beltane, we look at the element of fire and how to honour it within your practice and then we go full fae with sections the faery realm, how to journey or astral travel to the faery realm, faery witchcraft, pixies, brownies, the bantee or woman of the house (a female Irish counterpart of the brownie), then we look at deities such as Morgan Le Fay and Cliodhna, their lore and how to work with them. We finish up with a very in depth section on faery flora and fauna with foxglove and hawthorn. There will also be a witch box alongside this zine with 'Night of the Fae' candles, herb blend, vanilla incense and a fae altar print of trooping faeries. 4. May Witchcraft

    16 May

    May Witchcraft

On this episode we are stepping into the strange, earthy and folkloric energy of May Witchcraft. We begin with Lily of the Valley after my mum recently gifted one to me for my garden and naturally, I ended up completely falling down the rabbit hole of its folklore and magical associations. Together we explore the flowers connections to faery folklore, protection, divination, springtime traditions, connected deities, old Christian symbolism, weddings, luck, death omens and the return of happiness. Despite its delicate appearance Lily of the Valley carries an incredibly liminal energy and has long been associated with the veil between worlds. From there we descend underground into the world of coal and charcoal magic. Lately I have been feeling much more earthy and grounded within my practice, perhaps because of Taurus season but also because I have been spending so much time gardening, growing herbs and reconnecting with the soil again. This led me towards wanting to explore the simple but powerful ingredients that would once have been accessible within everyday folk magic — things like salt, charcoal and coal. We look at the magical uses of coal and charcoal throughout history including protection, grounding, purification, banishing, prosperity work and spiritual cleansing alongside old folk beliefs surrounding miners, omens and underground spirits. Finally we finish with haunted mining folklore and ghost stories inspired by the folk horror novel Scratch Moss by David Barnett. Expect tales of Knockers, phantom miners, eerie omens, ghostly hands carrying candles through the tunnels, spectral black dogs, Bluecap spirits and the strange supernatural folklore that grew from the deep mines beneath the earth. So make yourself a cup of tea, settle in and join me for this wonderfully strange journey into May Witchcraft. Over on Patreon this month we descend beneath the tides with our new theme - Sea Witch. Throughout September we will be exploring the magic of the sea through guided meditation, folklore, plant magic, ritual, glamour, tides and oceanic witchcraft. 7. March Witchcraft

    16 Mar

    March Witchcraft

March Witchcraft - Badger Medicine, Brigantia & Goblin Coombe In this March episode we explore the spiritual symbolism of the badger and its place within witchcraft, folklore and the awakening energies of early spring. We begin by looking at the difference between power animals, spirit animals and totem animals exploring how animals can appear within magical practice as guides, protectors and reflections of our own inner nature. The badger carries strong spiritual themes of earth magic, resilience, protection and boundaries. As an animal that lives beneath the soil in deep underground setts it has long been associated with the underworld, hidden knowledge and the quiet strength required to move through darkness before returning to the light. We also explore the badger’s connections to witchcraft and British folklore. We then look at the Celtic goddess Brigantia, a powerful deity associated with northern Britain, sovereignty and the land itself. Brigantia’s energy reflects the stirring of the earth as winter loosens its grip and spring begins to rise. To close the episode we step into folklore with a March tale called Goblin Coombe, a mysterious wooded valley in Somerset long associated with fae legends and supernatural encounters. This story is from the book Telling the Seasons - Stories, Celebrations and Folklore around the Year by Martin Maudsley. 8. Beyond Ayahuasca with Roman Hanis

    20 Feb

    Beyond Ayahuasca with Roman Hanis

Hello Witches In this episode of the podcast I am joined by Roman Hanis, the author of Beyond Ayahuasca for a grounded, honest conversation about ayahuasca. Often referred to as the Mother Plant it has become one of the most sought after spiritual experiences in the modern world. Roman’s work invites us to look beyond the visions, beyond the mysticism and into something far more important - integration, nervous system safety, humility and sovereignty. Together we explore why peak mystical experiences are not the same as embodied transformation, the difference between insight and real, lived integration and the risks of chasing ceremony after ceremony. This conversation is not about romanticising plant medicine but about how true transformation is not found in the ceremony alone but how you choose to live once you return. Ayahuasca is a powerful psychoactive substance and carries significant physical and psychological risks. This episode is for educational and reflective purposes only. If you are considering plant medicine please research thoroughly, seek qualified medical advice and prioritise your safety and mental wellbeing. If you are considering an ayahuasca ceremony I highly recommend Roman's book - you may also want to consider the following journal prompts. The book also has a number of exercises you can work through. Journal Prompts for Reflection What am I hoping an altered state would give me that I am not currently giving myself? Where in my life am I mistaking intensity for growth? What would true integration look like in my day-to-day behaviour? How can I build nervous system safety before seeking expansion?
