We are sick of everyone doing vibes based-analyses like Kamala Harris’s potential 2028 presidential campaign team who thinks that she just needs to get in with Mamdani and all the top-cop blood on her hands will be washed away. As the Iran war distance conflict resumes and the South of Lebanon continues to experience an entrenchment of occupation - we can also directly connect everything that’s happening here in the Imperial Core, data centers, the expanding national security and surveillance state, anti-tech radicalism, to all violence being enacted overseas. Because we are adults who are adult enough to face uncomfortable truth’s, namely “that it can absolutely happen here and is happening here. You remember how ICE has instituted “free speech zones” outside of their detention center at Delaney Hall in New Jersey? There is no basis in law for them to actually do this. But still, they’re doing it, just like Israel is, in contravention of all international law, creating pilot zones in the south of Lebanon. Facists love Zones. Every single type of zone except autonomous zones. And We are returning now to West Asia. Today we are joined by Janet Abou-Elias, a researcher at the Democratizing Foreign Policy Project at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and a co-founder of Women for Weapons Trade Transparency. It is the reformist illusion of progress while eventually, as the national security state solidifies itself and hunter killer AI packages have work their way into the drones of your local police department, there will be no more social programs. Social Security will expire, most homes, agricultural lands, natural resources will be monopolized by private equity which donates equally to both parties, and there will never, ever be universal basic income. But hey, at least you voted for the “lesser of two evils” and you can blame those independent swine for not voting “blue no matter who” and destroying your future. But the horrifying truth is that there is no red or blue - only imperial purple and you, peasant, do not wear the purple - only the caesars, our modern day billionaires and captains of industry.     183. Graham Platner: How We Refuse to Learn Simple Lessons

Platner's defenders have been using his self-celebrated service record and the combat PTSD excuse in order to explain away bad behavior, alcohol abuse, and a failure to come to terms with the true cost of the Global War on Terror. I think if some of us were more politically disciplined a bunch of people would not have been side-swiped by this recent credible allegations.It’s just me today for this episode, everyone else is on summer break so I’m stuck having to talk about Platner, about what military service truly means in all its violence and why I currently do not trust a single veteran in office or a single one who is running, and why placing your faith in singular movement leaders to usher in the revolution and turn the electoral college and this whole franchise around is never going to cut it. We might talk about Cesar Chavez, since it’s somewhat apropos.
