One Life Left -- s20e12 -- #397 -- Let’s Get Physical (mail)

It's another full studio this week as Ann, Ste and Simon welcomed Leo Zullo and Gareth Williams on the show to not talk about their day jobs. Instead we let them tell us all about Safe In Our World, which is the charity they co-founded that has the aim to promote and improve mental health in the videogame industry. They've helped Emily Richards remaster her Bafta award-winning game Fractured Minds, which is available to purchase and download on all major platforms. In a Schaffer-centred start to the show we found out how old Lewis is, what he eats, and what time of the year it is best to wear his headphones. Simon went viral, Ann told us about her special advent calendar, and Ste sang dark songs with his daughter. But most of all, we were disappointed by Google. Cheerio! One Life Left -- s18e04 -- #371 -- Viene Tormenta

The final episode of Dry January sees the team inspired with interactive ideas. We announced the date of our Resonance FM fundraising date (Friday April 26th), and came up with an artistic competition. Hopefully when we go through the entries next week it will work as an audio event. We've also moved into sponsorship. Instead of monetising our own brands, we've decided to monetise Rami Ismail's Gamedev.World conference. Hopefully it will turn out to have over 8,501 meetings during the event otherwise we'll not be getting our money's worth. There's blockchain chat (we really need some Super-Special Guests soon), Simon works out how to beat loot boxes, Ste updates an old joke, and Ann helps trademark a new brand. One Life Left -- s07e22 -- #166 -- The Con Is On

Now you may think that we're a bit harsh slagging off our rivals that only work through Medium Wave, but at least we don't go as far as Simon's company does to other PR firms. It's mostly the fault of our SSG and FOTS Pete Oliver from Namco Bandai as his Fight Club brings out the alpha male in all of us, apart from Ste and Ann who just want to do karaoke (for a change). We try to keep the show as Skyrim and karaoke free as possible, but we may lapse into speaking about it for a few brief moments. And it was mostly Pete that caused it. Honest. And he was definitely acting in an official Namco capacity when he confirmed the Xbox Loop and agreed to sponsor the newly announced OLLCON that is being held in January (LEGAL DISCLAIMER: He definitely wasn't. One Life Left -- s08e16 -- #186 -- The Old Curiosity Box(er)

It's not often we have someone on the show who started in videogames around the same time as Simon, usually because they've seen Simon with his top off so often that they refuse to be near him again, but SSG Steve Boxer is a man who is prepared to take that risk. We ask him what it is like to work under a leader/dessert eater like Keith Stuart at the Guardian and the difficulties that were had working under a maker of rudie magazines*. We also told an ENTIRELY HYPOTHETICAL story about Keith Stuart's GTA5 interview. And at least Steve had somewhere to go after the show as he had been invited to the Codblopsii event. All we had to do was to watch Ste walk around London in his Stockport County kit muttering to himself about Taylor Swift and Westfield.
