Author, Marisa Renee Lee speaks with Senator Turner about healing, love and loss during a grieving experience. Marisa talks about grief, healing oneself and confirming that it's ok to maintain a spiritual relationship with a loved one that you've lost - that is a form of healing. While in the process of redefining her personal grief process, Marisa wrote a book called Grief is Love (April 2022). Grief is Love gives us the most uplifting and personal story of Marisa’s journey. As we read through her experiences she hopes to help others who are navigating through loss and healing.

Senator Turner speaks with historian, educator, and author who is currently an Adjunct History Professor at Cuyahoga Community College, Sherlynn Allen-Harris.  They take a moment to discuss how the status quo and legislators have the power to encourage change instead of enforce the unbalanced racial power structures that affect all communities, especially the Black community. Senator Turner and Sherlynn lift up the fact that we must not allow uncomfortably distract us from teaching about our country’s history - the ugly and not so cute.
