Introducing Douglas Stuart: “John of John” | Oprah’s Book Club from The Oprah Podcast. Follow the show: The Oprah Podcast As part of the 30th anniversary of Oprah’s Book Club, Oprah picks her 123rd selection: John of John by celebrated Scottish author Douglas Stuart. His other novels include Young Mungo and Shuggie Bain which won the prestigious Booker Prize in 2020. John of John is set in a small, fictional farming and textile town, Falabay, on an isle off northern Scotland where everybody knows everyone’s business. The story centers around three generations living under the same roof: a father, his son and the son's grandmother. The central theme to this enthralling book is the secrets these three so desperately hold on to: secrets from each other, from their neighbors and from the church. A love story at its heart, Douglas Stuart tells Oprah how he spent six years writing this book, spending 16 weeks researching the Outer Hebrides Isles on the northwest coast of Scotland talking to local people who inspired his 26 supporting characters. Oprah and Douglas Stuart are joined by an audience in New York City who enthusiastically read the book and have questions for the author. The Best Of Dave

On last Friday's episode Scott promised that if the GoFundMe for the Blezard family hit it's target by the end of this weekend, Scott would release a pod episode with the best of Dave Blezard. The goal was hit and Scott is paying up. These are audio clips from Scott Fox, Dave Blezard, Ashley Greco, and Marcello on the Z103.5 Morning Show, circa 2010.  If you would like to donate to the fundraiser for the Blezard family: CLICK HERE and view the GoFundMe Page. This GoFundMe to support the Blezard family as they walk through an incredibly challenging time with their sweet daughter, Ellie. Ellie is a bright, strong, and loving little girl who is autistic, bringing a special kind of joy and light to everyone around her. Recently, after a series of medical concerns and testing, Ellie was diagnosed with cancer following the discovery of a fast-growing mass. While this news has been incredibly difficult, Ellie continues to show so much strength and resilience every single day. Her family is staying close by her side at the hospital, focusing all their love and energy on her care and comfort. At the same time, they are caring for Ellie's three-month-old baby sister, doing everything they can to support both of their girls during this emotional time. With extended hospital stays come many unexpected expenses—parking, meals, and accommodations—that can quickly become overwhelming. This fundraiser is meant to help ease that burden so the family can focus on what matters most: being together and supporting Ellie through her treatment and recovery.   Any funds not used during their hospital stay will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities, an organization that supports families facing similar journeys.
