SKIMS Co-Founder & CEO: Jens Grede – Timelessness, the American Dream, & What It Really Means to Make a Simple Product Great

The Gstaad Guy sits down with Jens Grede, co-founder and CEO of SKIMS and one of the most instinctive brand builders of his generation, to explore what it means to connect products with culture in a way that feels both inevitable and enduring. From his Swedish upbringing and the philosophy of lagom to a career that has taken him from Mr Porter to FRAME to one of the most talked-about consumer brands in the world, Jens reflects on a professional life built on honesty, minimalism, and an obsession with getting the product right. The conversation moves through the tension between being timely and being timeless, what American culture taught him that Europe never could, and why working with people who share your values is the only foundation worth building on. Jens speaks openly about the decision to back himself, the meaning of genuine partnership, and why family, far from being a counterweight to ambition, has always been its greatest source of purpose. Grounded, forward-looking, and refreshingly direct, it is a conversation about integrity, pop culture, and what happens when you care more about the work than the noise around it. Luana Lopes Lara: Prediction market payout

Luana Lopes Lara, the co-founder of prediction market platform Kalshi, went from the Bolshoi ballet school in Brazil to becoming the world’s youngest female self-made billionaire. BBC business editor Simon Jack and journalist Zing Tsjeng explain how - in today's online world - literally anything can become a tradeable asset. Thanks to early investment, Luana Lopes Lara and her business partner Tarek Mansour convinced US regulators that making bets on real-world events was a form of trading rather than gambling. Good Bad Billionaire is the podcast that explores the lives of the super-rich and famous, tracking their wealth, philanthropy, business ethics, and success. There are leaders who made their money in Silicon Valley, on Wall Street and in high street fashion. From iconic celebrities and CEOs to titans of technology, the podcast unravels tales of fortune, power, economics, ambition and moral responsibility. Simon and Zing put their subjects to the test with a playful, totally unscientific scorecard — then hand the verdict over to you: are they good, bad, or simply billionaires? • The SHE Word S6/EP14 - Women, Girls and The Body Shaming Culture

    09/10/2025

The SHE Word S6/EP14 - Women, Girls and The Body Shaming Culture

In Danae Mercer Ricci’s 2024 talk At The SHE Word Event she dropped an astounding statistic - Danae stated that the diet business is worth 90 Billion Dollar; a business that thrives on us feeling we need to be something else, that we are not enough. The Body Shaming Culture is affecting girls as young as 6 years old who are turning to dieting as a result of being actively targeted by the industry. 25–50% of teenagers reporting weight-based discrimination with another report stating that up to 67% students experience body shaming. One study reports that at age thirteen, 53% of girls are “unhappy with their bodies.” This grows to 78% by the time girls reach seventeen. The Body Shaming Culture has reached epidemic levels and we simply aren’t talking about this enough. In this episode of The SHE Word, Trudy sits down with three women who have not only experienced body shaming, but have taken steps to actively combat this culture. Corrine Muscat is well known for her radio and voice over artist voice, but in the past few years trained and qualified as a personal trainer specifically working with women and men struggling to get started, just as she did in the past. Leeanne Bartolo is the name and face behind the Gym, Sports and Fitness brand Warehouse, but despite being WFF Bikini World Champion has struggled with her own appearance and the way that she has felt about herself. Caroline Abela is a full time mum at full time work and shares her own battles with body image and being body shamed. The women powerfully share their own journeys, from childhood body shaming, teenager bullying, online trolling and the struggles to deal with the Filtered Untruth we are challenged by every day. The conversation is full of heart breaking stories, personal accounts, honest and brave accounts and words of hope and encouragement. Feel seen in this show by women who are having a conversation that women really rarely have, that we really should have, not just for ourselves, but for the millions of young women and girls that are also affected by the body shaming culture. China Decode: Apple's China Chip Play, DeepSeek Seeking Billions, and the Californication of Chinese Food

Alice Han and James Kynge dig into why Apple is lobbying the Trump administration for permission to buy memory chips from a Chinese company on the Pentagon's military blacklist. With DRAM prices up nearly 100% in a single quarter — analysts are calling it "RAMageddon" — Apple already raised MacBook and iPad prices by up to 20%, and iPhones could be next. How far will Apple go to secure its supply chain, and what does it mean if Washington says yes? They also break down DeepSeek's landmark $7.4 billion funding round, which is the first time the Chinese AI startup has ever taken outside money. Tencent, CATL, and China's state-backed National AI Investment Fund are among the backers, and the valuation has jumped six-fold in six weeks to nearly $59 billion. DeepSeek built its reputation on doing more with less — so why does it need the money now? And finally: a new sign that China's middle class is changing what it puts on the table. The Economist calls it the "Californication" of Chinese diets: a growing appetite for organic, health-conscious food.
