The Dangerous Prayers That Could Completely Change Your Life

What if the things falling apart in your life are actually creating space for the life you’ve been praying for? In this episode, I break down the 3 dangerous prayers from Craig Groeschel’s Dangerous Prayers and how they’ve played out in my own life. I share what happened when I asked God to reveal what was keeping me stuck, break my attachment to control and old identities, and make me available for what He wanted next. I also share why pruning can look like loss, how facing our biggest fears can set us free, and what I’ve discovered on the other side. How Proximity to the Right People Can Change Your Life

Do you need to live in the right city to reach your biggest goals, or can you create the same opportunities from wherever you are? In this episode, Chris and I talk about the role proximity plays in success and why being around the right people creates opportunities, relationships, and collaborations that you can't always access from a distance. We also share why opportunity alone isn't enough if you're not thriving where you are, and how to find the balance between being your best self and putting yourself in rooms that stretch you. Tune in to hear how getting into the right rooms can help you grow. Check out our Sponsors: Shopify - Try the ecommerce platform I trust for Glōci. The SHE Word Mums - When Things Don't Go According To Plan

This is the episode you want to watch with a packet of tissues as the emotions are high. In this episode of TSWM, Nerissa sits down with 3 women to discuss when motherhood doesn’t go to plan. When you plan to start a family or when you imagine your children, you never quite imagine a disability or a diagnosis hanging over their head. No one dreams of holding their baby only to be told that there is something wrong. As a mum, you only want the best for your child and knowing they will be facing a world which is not quite built for them brings challenges, heart break and grief. The three mums in this show are Yazmin Helledie, Michelle de Maria and Sharon Attard de Giovanni. These ladies have a raw and emotional conversation about their inner feelings and how they navigated the disability and diagnosis, how they accepted the curve ball life threw their way in order to be able to adapt to their new reality. They talk of shock, heartbreak but also so much joy in everyday life raising these incredible warriors and advocating for a more inclusive society and a kinder world for them - because after all, they too deserve to take up space and have their voices heard. #431 How Henry Singleton Worked

What I learned from reading Distant Force: A Memoir of the Teledyne Corporation and The Man Who Created It by George Roberts and The Outsiders by William Thorndike. Made possible by: Ramp: https://ramp.com Applovin: https://www.applovin.com Vanta: https://vanta.com/founders Some of my favorite quotes: 0:00 — "He aggressively repurchased his stock, eventually buying over ninety percent of Teledyne's shares." 0:45 — "He was known as The Sphinx for his reluctance to speak with either analysts or journalists." 1:25 — Charlie Munger: "Singleton's financial returns were a mile higher than anyone else's, that they were utterly ridiculous." 2:00 — Buffett: "The heads of many companies are not skilled in capital allocation. Their inadequacy is not surprising. Most bosses rise to the top because they've excelled in an area such as marketing, production, engineering, administration, or sometimes institutional politics." 4:10 — Singleton: "Our conclusion was that the key was cash flow. Our attitude towards cash generation and asset management came out of our own thinking. It is not copied." 4:30 — Buffett: "Henry Singleton has the best operating and capital deployment record in American business. If one took the hundred top business school graduates and made a composite of their triumphs, their record would not be as good as Singleton's." 9:40 — Singleton: "If anyone wants to follow Teledyne, they should get used to the fact that our quarterly earnings will jiggle. Our accounting is set to maximize cash flow, not reported earnings." 10:50 — Singleton believed buying stock at attractive prices was self-catalyzing, analogous to coiling a spring that at some future point would surge forward to realize full value." 11:50 — Singleton: "I don't reserve any day-to-day responsibilities for myself, so I don't get into any particular rut. I do not define my job in any rigid terms, but in terms of having the freedom to do whatever seems to be in the best interest of the company at any time." 14:35 — Singleton: "If everyone's doing them, there must be something wrong with them." (on share repurchases by Fortune 500 companies) 26:30 — Singleton: "Teledyne is like a living plant, with our companies as the different branches and each putting out new branches and growing so that no one business is too significant." 28:35 — Singleton: "We work our heads off to increase our own capability at collecting and promoting the right people. To the extent that we succeed, the whole company will succeed." 32:30 — "What's unique about him is that I'll ask him a question about one of these companies that I've asked him to supervise, and he always knows the exact numerical answer. That's the kind of fellow that you pick who runs a company and does it well." 35:00 — Singleton: "There are tremendous values in the stock market, but in buying stocks, not entire companies. Buying companies tends to raise the purchase price too high." 41:35 — Claude Shannon on Singleton: "He always tries to work out the best moves, and maybe he doesn't like to talk too much because when you're playing a game, you don't tell anyone else what your strategy is." 42:00 — Singleton: "We are not particularly persuaded by quick, temporary gains. We'd rather get something permanent, and that takes time." 44:40 — Munger: "Henry Singleton was the smartest single human being I've ever known in my entire life." 45:00 — Munger: "Henry was a lot smarter, but Warren had thought about investments a lot longer." (distinguishing raw intelligence from accumulated experience)

The SHE Word - Building Back From Break Ups

Break Ups are one of the most unspoken topics we have sat down to discuss. Unless you stay with the very first person you meet, everyone is impacted by break ups - they are an inevitable part of life - but more often than not, they aren’t pretty, they can be painful and brutal. We don’t talk about them - because it isn’t easy to chat about what can be ugly. Break Ups happen for a reason. At best two people decide that they are no longer heading in the same direction and amicably decide to part ways. More often break ups involve unmet expectations, money troubles, family and friends opinions and input, or even betrayal and abuse. The fall out from family and financial dynamics, and adjusting to a new life, can be far reaching - way beyond the obvious. Whatever the reason, Break Ups are an isolating grief. What you had hoped for is gone. The future you were building is no longer there. But. There is a life after a break up, and everyone on this show is evidence of that. In this episode Trudy sits down with Martine Cutajar, Claudia Faniello and Maria Azzopardi to discuss the variety of ways a break up can hit and how to move on. The lessons learned and the wisdom gained. Building back up after a break up might not be easy - there will be tears, soul searching, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, but finally hopefully healing, acceptance and moving forwards. This is a show for everyone, whether you are in a happy and settled relationship and are just curious, searching to heal the past, or just want to feel seen. Huge thanks to Brown's, Perrier, Always. Tampax, Satariano, Holland and Barrett, Camilleri Paris Mode, Verdala Wellness Hotel and Spa, Mapfre, BOV and Lindex for supporting these conversations. Producer, DJ, & Entrepreneur: Rampa – Berlin, Building in the Background, & Loving the Process More Than the Product

The Gstaad Guy sits down with Rampa, producer, DJ and entrepreneur, to explore what happens when the thing you made becomes bigger than you are. Sixteen years on from a shared basement studio and a dream of never going back to the car wash, Rampa reflects on the strange arithmetic of scale: waking up one day with the tickets sold and the visibility earned and no real idea how to hold it, and discovering that most of the people far more famous than him feel exactly the same way. The conversation gets into what skate culture taught him about belonging before the internet made it easy, why he agrees with a fair amount of his own criticism, and the economics nobody explains about who actually pays for a night in the jungle. He is candid about the two days a year Keinemusik spend with a coach protecting a friendship the scale had drowned out, about the freedom of an unfinished song and the worry that starts on release day, and about the blind date he was dragged along to that turned into TEILE, the speaker and carpentry company he now runs with twenty two people. Increasingly drawn away from the stage and towards engineering, workshops and the young builders he sees there, it is a conversation about creating rather than having created, and why he would not tell his younger self a thing. Filmed at the Keinemusik Studio in Berlin. Founders mental wealth: Valuing entrepreneurs differently - Season 5 (Singapore Nov 2023) #145

Our speaker today is Janos Barberis, CEO of Founders Taboo. Janos founded Founders Taboo to increase awareness, access, and affordability of support for startup founder mental health and well-being. Janos is building the world’s largest online community and resource hub offering psycho-education, online support and connections to providers specialised in offering treatment and crisis support specifically for founders. Founders Taboo also offer regular retreats for founders. In fact, his team once had to drive 14 hours across 5 countries to make it to a retreat for founders as all the planes were cancelled! A fun fact about Janos - in every talk he has given, Janos always has one picture of Freudy, his husky. Janos talks to us about Founders mental wealth: and how entrepreneurs need to be valued differently¨.
