    Ep. 6 Old School Music Savviness in a Digital World w/ Chris Bourne

    Chris was in a Disney band called "Hollywood Endings" in the United States when he was 17 years old, his first real start in music. Being there for 5 years, he did a "crash course", touring and playing shows, and learning etiquette, the key ingredient when you meet new people, especially on the road. After he left the band he and his father were selling merch on the tour of the other music member of the family, his older brother James Bourne, and that gave him an opportunity to learn the ropes of guerrilla music marketing. He then returned to the U.K in the London music scene where he met the brothers Harry and Jimmy Morris to form The New Twentys in 2020.     E6: Hard Work, Talent & Timing w/ Nathaniel Cross

    Nathaniel Cross is a trombonist, arranger, and composer.  He has played and arranged professionally on many different genres of music and has worked and recorded with a wide range of artists and bands, including Solange Knowles, Macy Gray, Emile Sande, Kano, Stormzy, Courtney Pine, Swindle, Tom Grennan, BBC Concert Orchestra, China Moses, Mighty Sparrow, David Rudder, Jazz Jamaica, David Murray, Robin Eubanks, Bennie Maupin, SowetoKinch, Abram Wilson, Moses Boyd, Zara McFarlane, Dan Zanes, Brixton Chamber Orchestra and the Southbank Sinfonia. Nathaniel has played internationally in major music festivals including North Sea Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz Festival, EFG London Jazz Festival, Jazz a Villete Festival, WOMAD, Bestival, Glastonbury, and South By Southwest. Nathaniel has also performed on television shows with various artists on programs such as Later...with Jools Holland and the Mercury Prize Awards.

    E5: Feel good, summer loving songwriting w/ Rob Humm (Rooskin)

    Rooskin is a five-piece band from Southend, Essex. Combining their array of influences they create a weave of psychedelic, surf-enthused indie pop anthems! With influences like Real Estate, Mac Demarco, War on Drugs, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Tame Impala you can hear the saccharine Indie-Pop heart beating beneath the hazy-wavey tones. Rob and Matt have been playing music together since school through different bands and sounds until they started Rooskin and Met Felix when they needed a drummer for the debut UK support tour with Tugboat Captain. Rob met Buddy (Keys) and Pete (Bass and Production) while working on tours throughout Europe. After a handful of feeler singles, Pete helped Rooskin find their signature sound with influences like Real Estate, Mac Demarco, War on Drugs, and Tame Impala with an Indie-Pop heart beating between the hazy tones. On this episode, I speak with Rob, one of two frontmen in Essex Psych-pop band Rooskin. Playing in bands since the end of school and previously working as a tour driver he is well-connected to the local and national music scene.     E3/ Songwriting, Networking and Drum Beats w/J. J. Wallace

    J.J. Wallace is Jeremiah Joshua Wallace who started playing drums on his dad's head when he was 2 years old and since then has never given up the passion. He started playing in the church which gave him the ability to play with other musicians from a very early age. JJ's drumming influences have changed during the course of his life but has always been a fan of drummers such as Tony Taylor Jr and Nate Smith. By the age of 13 JJ gained grade 8 and since then has been studying more about unique styles of music stretching from Jazz to hip hop and funk. In 2018 Wallace was the winner of the UK Young Drummer of the Year 2018 competition, and now he is playing drums at Glastonbury Festival supporting Celeste.     Hello everyone, I'm very happy to interview James Humphrys, a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based In Bristol, Uk. Taking influences from bands like Foals, Parcels, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Jungle, James’s music is a unique concoction of upbeat funk-filled dream pop with often surprisingly melancholic lyrics.  James has played venues ranging from Bristol’s Thekla to the Royal Albert Hall, selling out headline shows at Bristol’s Crofters Rights and London’s The Brink, and supported the likes of San Cisco, Shortstraw, and Cassia. In addition to multiple sets with London’s Sofar Sounds, James has also joined the line-up at Glastonbury Festival, 2000 Tress, and Dot to Dot Festival. In this first episode, Ricardo speaks with Doom Cannon aka Dominic Canning, London-based producer, composer, and pianist Dominic Canning a founding member of the groundbreaking Steam Down collective, Project Karnak and Triforce, and also Musical Director for Brit Award-winning Celeste. In 2019, Dominic launched his first solo project under the name Doom Cannon. Having spent years touring globally, Dominic has already won two Jazz FM Awards with Steam Down, as well as performing live at Brit Awards and Later with Jools with Celeste. With a debut album synthesizing profound melodic/harmonic foundations, due for release later this year, DoomCannon is carving out a place for himself in the British Jazz scene and has set himself up as one watch.
