Next Steps for Granite Park with Fresno City Manager Georgeanne White

Philip Teresi sits down with Fresno City Manager Georgeanne White. The City of Fresno has officially regained control of Granite Park Sports Complex after evicting the nonprofit Central Valley Community Sports Foundation (CVCSF), which had operated the facility for about a decade. On June 30, city officials and locksmiths changed the locks at the city-owned complex on Cedar Avenue and took possession of the property. For questions or concerns regarding Granite Park, call: 559-621-5366  After winning the legal battle to regain control of Granite Park, Fresno became responsible for managing reservations, field rentals, and facility operations. City officials said a formal fee schedule was required in order to legally collect fees from sports leagues and event organizers using the complex. City Manager Georgeanne White said the city intends to operate Granite Park similarly to the Regional Sports Complex in southwest Fresno and honor existing reservations to avoid disruptions for users. Fourth of July Costs Surge, Trump Wants Lower Gasoline Prices & Central Valley Honor Flight Donations

Fourth of July celebrations in the Central Valley are becoming more expensive due to higher costs for groceries, fireworks, and fuel. While gas prices have recently declined, a new gas-tax increase and heavy holiday travel may offset some of those savings. Meanwhile, families can expect to pay more for traditional barbecue foods and fireworks compared with last year.  Trump argued that falling oil prices should translate into much cheaper gasoline and warned retailers against what he described as price gouging. He called for prices near $2.50 per gallon, threatened unspecified “big problems” for retailers that do not lower prices, and said the Justice Department is already examining whether consumers are being overcharged.  Central Valley Honor Flight continues to provide memorable Washington, D.C., trips for local veterans, but organizers say future flights depend on community support. While August and September flights are secure, the October trip faces a $150,000 funding shortfall and could be canceled unless additional donations are received.   Please Like, Comment and Follow 'Philip Teresi on KMJ' on all platforms: ---     Philip Teresi on KMJ is available on the KMJNOW app, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever else you listen to podcasts.  -- Philip Teresi on KMJ Weekdays 2-6 PM Pacific on News/Talk 580 AM & 105.9 FM KMJ  | Website  | Facebook | Instagram | X | Podcast | Amazon | - Everything KMJ KMJNOW App | Podcasts | Facebook | X | Instagram  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
