Roland-Garros Day 15: Zverev finally gets a grand slam title!

Alexander Zverev is finally a Grand Slam champion! The whole gang is back at Tennis Weekly HQ to react to the German’s dramatic five-set victory over Flavio Cobolli in the 2026 Roland Garros final, as he captures his maiden major title at the fourth attempt and becomes the first German man to win a Grand Slam singles title since 1996. The team discuss where the match was won and lost, whether the pressure is now off Zverev heading into the rest of the season, and how this year’s French Open will be remembered after a fortnight packed with shocks, breakthrough stars and unexpected storylines. They also address the ‘anyone but Zverev’ chants and why Zverev might not be the most popular champion plus who their picks are for the next first-time Grand Slam champion. Away from Paris, attention turns to the grass-court season as Serena Williams speaks publicly for the first time ahead of her highly anticipated return to professional tennis at Queen’s Club. Joel was on hand to breathe it all in - including her practice session with Victoria Mboko - to give the real verdict on how she is shaping up ahead of her return. Roland-Garros Day 14: Mirra Andreeva ends Chwalińska's dream run to win first grand slam title!

Mirra Andreeva has done it! She is now a grand slam champion, defeating Maja Chwalinska in the final to secure her maiden grand slam title. She becomes the youngest player since Monica Seles to win and the first teenager since Iga Swiatek in 2020. She made it look easy on finals day against a tricky opponent coming through in straight sets 6-3 6-2 in just under an hour and a half. Chris and Kim reflect on the victory - how Andreeva has matured and how high she can go and whether she will win more slams this year. They also talk about Maja Chwalinska's incredible run from qualifying all the way to the final in Paris winning 9 matches in a row before becoming unstuck by a world class opponent. They talk about what is in store for her - whether Wimbledon will grant her a wild card which would make her the first player in history to be both a wild card and seed a the championships and what she should do if she doesn't receive one. They also unpack the doubles action as Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos defend their title in men’s doubles and in the wheelchairs Alfie Hewitt went down to Oda but won a 7th successive doubles title on the clay! Roland-Garros Day 13: Zverev to meet Cobolli in final after Arnaldi withdrawal

Alexander Zverev is through to the Roland Garros final and now stands just one win away from a maiden Grand Slam title. Joel and Chris react to the German’s four-set victory over Jakub Mensik, discussing the key moments that decided the match, whether Mensik’s incredible fortnight in Paris finally caught up with him, and what the result means for the Czech teenager’s future. The team also debate the role of mental coaching at the highest level after Andre Agassi questioned Mensik’s decision to bring his sports psychologist into camp for the semi-finals. The biggest drama, however, came off court as Matteo Arnaldi was forced to withdraw from his maiden Grand Slam semi-final just hours before facing fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli due to a viral illness. The team assesses the impact of the late withdrawal, what it means for Cobolli’s remarkable run to the final, and preview Sunday's championship match - will Zverev finally get the job done? Plus, British wheelchair stars Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid claim a seventh Roland Garros doubles title, and the team look ahead to the women’s final between Mirra Andreeva and surprise finalist Maja Chwalinska. Roland-Garros Day 12: Qualifier Chwalińska to face Andreeva in Final

The most unexpected women’s Roland Garros final in recent memory is set! Joel and Kim react to a dramatic day of women’s semi-final action as teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva powered past Marta Kostyuk to reach the first Grand Slam final of her career, while Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska continued her fairytale run in Paris to become the first qualifier in the Open Era to reach the Roland Garros women’s final. The team break down both semi-finals, discuss how Andreeva turned the tables on Kostyuk after earlier defeats this season, whether Chwalinska will finally catch up with her in Paris after her *ninth* match in total and preview a fascinating championship match between two first-time Grand Slam finalists. Away from the singles action, Serena Williams took to the practice court at Queen’s Club ahead of her much-anticipated return to professional tennis, while British hopes received a boost as Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara reached the French Open men’s doubles final without dropping a set. Plus, Joel and Kim look ahead to Day 13 in Paris with men’s semi-final action on the horizon, including Alexander Zverev versus Jakub Mensik for a place in the Roland Garros final. Roland-Garros Day 11: Sabalenka meltdown, Cobolli vs Arnaldi + Berrettini heartbreak

Roland Garros 2026 continues to deliver the unexpected and Day 11 was no different. Join Joel and Kim as they react to a stunning collapse from World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, who squandered a set and double-break lead to lose to Diana Shnaider and miss out on a place in the French Open semifinals. With parallels to her final versus Coco Gauff last year in Paris, the team breaks down what went wrong for Sabalenka, whether the windy conditions on Court Philippe-Chatrier played a decisive role, and what the defeat means for her status as the dominant force in women's tennis. They also celebrate one of the stories of the tournament as qualifier Maja Chwalińska continues her fairytale run to become just the second women's qualifier in the Open Era to reach the Roland Garros semifinals. On the men's side, it was the battle of the Matteos with Matteo Arnaldi advancing after Matteo Berrettini's heartbreaking injury retirement, while Flavio Cobolli keeps Italy's hopes alive with an impressive victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime. Plus, the team previews the ladies semifinals - Andreeva-Kostyuk followed by Schnaider-Chwalinska - and make some predictions with a potential Collect-a-Win at stakes for Joel… SOCIALS Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com. Roland-Garros Day 10: Fonseca run ended, Zverev handling the pressure + Andreeva vs Kostyuk in SF

We’re back at Tennis Weekly HQ to round up all the action from Day 10 at Roland Garros as the quarter-finals got underway in Paris. Kim and Chris dive into Marta Kostyuk’s standout victory over Elina Svitolina in a historic all-Ukrainian quarter-final, as she extends her remarkable clay-court winning streak to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final. We also discuss Mirra Andreeva’s dominant display as the teenage sensation powers into the final four, setting up a fascinating showdown with Kostyuk for a place in the French Open final. On the men’s side, Alexander Zverev lived up to the ‘favourite’ billing once again and kept his title hopes alive by ending the dream run of teenage wildcard Rafael Jodar, while Jakub Mensik battled on with an impressive victory over Joao Fonseca. The team debate what Mensik’s win means for the much heralded Next Gen on the ATP Tour and whether Zverev is peaking at exactly the right time with the draw now wide open. Plus, the return of Parisian rain, Joel’s surprising Collect-a-Set predictions, and a look ahead to Day 11 with Aryna Sabalenka and three Italians (Berrettini, Arnaldi, Cobolli!) bidding to make the semifinals… SOCIALS Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.
