Episode 134: Rough Round of 16 for English Clubs

This season's Champions League Round of 16 featured a record-breaking 68 goals across Europe--much to the demise of English sides. Reigning UCL holders PSG faced off against reigning Conference League and Club World Cup winners Chelsea in a rematch from last summer's Club World Cup Final in the U.S. Real Madrid faced off against Manchester City in the knockout rounds for the 5th season in a row in what has become the modern-day UCL Classico. Bodo/Glimt and Sporting, a tie overlooked going into the Round of 16, witnessed one of the greatest UCL comebacks in history, though with abysmal commentary from Martin Tyler. Arsenal vs Leverkusen transpired more or less as expected, as did Liverpool vs Galatasaray. Bayern decimated Atalanta in a strong statement across two legs, where they scored double-digit goals on aggregate. Newcastle kept it close with Barcelona for three halves before collapsing in the 2nd half of the 2nd leg on the road. And Atletico Madrid embarrassed Spurs at the very ground where they lost the 2018/19 Final to Liverpool, though they earned a consolation in the second leg. It's the end of the round for Italian sides this season, while Spanish sides cruised to the Quarterfinals at the expense of most English clubs.  Timestamps: 02:49-18:55 PSG vs Chelsea 18:56-31:06 Real Madrid vs Man City 31:07-42:54 Bodo/Glimt vs Sporting 42:55-50:20 Leverkusen vs Arsenal 50:21-01:04:55 Atalanta vs Bayern 01:04:56-01:13:55 Newcastle vs Barcelona 01:13:56-01:28:19 Atletico Madrid vs Tottenham 01:28:20-01:32:47 Galatasaray vs Liverpool 01:32:48-01:36:40 Round of 16 Recap & Takeaways 01:36:41-01:39:40 UCL Quarterfinals Preview

Episode 131: Benfica, Bodo/Glimt & Club Brugge Advance Sensationally

Nick and Taylor analyze the pure bedlam from the final matchday of the Champions League League Phase. Benfica's goalkeeper scores a goal that will long be remembered in Champions League history to send the Portuguese outfit into the knockout rounds by the slimmest of margins. Bodo/Glimt travels to Atletico Madrid's fortress, Wanda Metropolitano, and pulls off an incredible comeback to qualify for the knockouts in their debut season. And Club Brugge stuns Marseille in Belgium, routing the French side to once again qualify for the knockout rounds. Elsewhere, Sporting also scored a last-second winner to reach the top-8, Arsenal completed a perfect League Phase campaign, Inter bounced back from losing three-straight, and Olympiacos won their third successive match to ensure knockout football.
