    France beats Paraguay and Canada out following loss to Morocco | ABC News Top Stories

    France has ground out a tough 1-nil win over Paraguay in their round 16 clash at the World Cup. Paraguay frustrated France, sitting deep in defence and limiting any quality shots on goal. A Kylian Mbappe penalty goal sent France through to the quarter-finals after a one-nil win over Paraguay in Philadelphia. The French captain converted from the spot in the 70th minute for his seventh goal of the tournament - putting him level with Argentina's Lionel Messi for the golden boot. They'll face Morocco next, after the African champions 3-nil win over Canada in Houston. + Meanwhile Canada is the first co-host to be eliminated going down to Morocco three-nil in their round of 16 knockout game in Houston. There were four yellow cards on either side, with nearly twenty fouls committed in the first half. It was nil all at half-time but Morocco came out in the second half and they piled on three goals the first after fifty minutes and then another two later including one in the eighth minute of extra time. There's no question that the co-hosts would have been dreaming that they could have kept going but Morocco in the end their class one out the day and so they're through to the round of sixteen and Canada says goodbye. + Tomorrow will see Brazil take on Norway with Mexico coming up against England.
