Ep 1089 - Courtney Cronin of ESPN
GC welcomes Courtney Cronin, IU alumna and ESPN Chicago Bears reporter, to the podcast. We talk about her background as a Chicago-area native, her time at Indiana as a student and media member, and her gradual progression through the sports media landscape before reaching the Worldwide Leader in Sports.
At the 28:00 minute mark we talk about NFL draft coverage, the environment in Chicago surrounding the team, and the ways in which local knowledge helps coverage.
The show goes pretty deep into work-life balance, the sports media grind and the sorts of things that go through the minds of the people who cover the games. We talk about Courtney's experiences on Around The Horn, her proximity to the filming locations of The Bear, and why JJ McCarthy is getting talked about as a top six pick. Plus we talk about a bunch of other things! It was a wide-ranging conversation that I thoroughly enjoyed, hopefully you will too. -
Ep 1088 - Reader Mailbag Pt 2
Scott joins DoctorGC for the second act of the Reader Mailbag series in April, as we hit on several topics relevant to IU basketball, including questions on how to attract top talent and mesh them into an existing squad, a clarification from Scott on the "home run" nature of past portal activity for IU, Dan Hurley as an analogue for Bob Knight, an more.

Ep 1087 - Reader Mailbag Part 1
We asked for questions. And wow did you folks have questions! Here's a solo podcast to start off the April reader mailbag, including:
Putting Purdue's title game loss in some sort of philosophical and cultural context
The lessons we learned from college basketball in 2023-24
The lessons we should've learned from UConn, especially offensively
Does a Sweet 16 run get Woodson a contract extension?
How does Calipari leaving Kentucky affect the IU-UK rivalry?
Would Kentucly hire Dawn Staley?
Stay Tuned for Part 2. You never know, there may be other parts after that. -
Ep 1086 - The Indiana Basketball Culture War, plus some portal talk
On this episode of CrimsonCast, Scott and the doctor talk about Purdue's appearance in the national title game and the larger implications it might have for Indiana basketball's place in the state. We discuss the implications of the last 30 years of basketball in the state, the decisions made by both programs, and the concerns that IU might have for the near future in terms of its place within the hearts and minds of basketball people in the state.
We then talk about IU's forays into the portal as they currently stand, the issues that the Hoosiers are facing in terms of timetable and tasks, and whether or not concerns about the lack of portal commits are justifiable at this stage.
