    GETTIN' SALTY EXPERIENCE PODCAST Ep. 300 | TRIBUTE TO FDNY RESCUE 2 BILLY MOON

    Be sure to tune into our next segment of "NEVER FORGET” on our Youtube channel with special guest, Kristina Moon. We will be paying Tribute to her husband FDNY FF Billy Moon Rescue 2 who died on Dec. 20, 2022. Billy was a 21 year veteran of the FDNY, and 28 year active member and former Chief of Dept- Islip Volunteer Dept. He succumbed to his injuries after a fall preparing for a training exercise in Rescue 2. He spent 20 years in L133 in South Jamaica. Kristina started the Billy Moon Foundation after being asked to speak at the rock. She realized that people believe in organ donation, but not enough are really talking about it. Now, not only do they speak and advocate around the country, but provide financial assistance to organ donor and recipient families for things like food, travel, lodging, even medication. Kristina donated Billy's organs and saved 5 lives- 2 retired members of the dept. One had 9/11 lung disease. ""Organ donation was the light in my darkest hours. Knowing that my husband would live on, even in his death, provided me a sense of peace through our family's tragedy. I have even built relationships with three of his five recipients; all of whom I now consider family." Nuff Said.... It’s going to be another great conversation. We will get the whole skinny.     GETTIN' SALTY EXPERIENCE PODCAST Ep. 299 | FDNY LIEUTENANT | SERGE BURACK

    Be sure and join us with our special guest, 20 year FDNY veteran, Lieutenant Serge Burack. Serge started his career as a Junior firefighter with Elmont Fire Department in 1977, and in 1981 was sworn in to the Elmont Fire Department on Engine 4. Serge took the FDNY test and began Probie school on August 3rd,1985. In September of 85, right out of probie school, he was assigned to Engine 76. In 1988 he transferred across the floor to 22 Truck. Then in 1994 Mr. Burack would transfer to Ladder 126. In 1997 Serge was promoted to Lieutenant, assigned to the 15th Division. In 1998 Lt. went to Engine 234. In 2002 - 2003 he was detailed to OEM for a short time. After that, transferred across the floor again, to 123 truck, ultimately retiring in 2005. No doubt Lt. has some great stories for us and we can't wait to hear them. Especially working on the 4th of July in 1991. Gonna be another great show. We will get the whole skinny. Was Appointed to the FDNY in 1989 and assigned to Engine 93 in Washington Heights He Transferred to L-43 in 1991 Promoted Lt May 2000 and covered in the 15th Div Was covering UFO in E234 leading up to WTC Assigned to E-290 Oct 2001 He Crossed the floor to L103 April 2004 Joined IMT in 2004 Promoted to Captain 2006 13th Div Was Assigned to Ladder 158 2007 Retired December 2016. Since retiring he has co-authored a book calle "The Rising from Ground Zero"- The FDNY didn’t just recover after 9/11 - they actively chose to rebuild.     GETTIN SALTY EXPERIENCE PODCAST Ep.295 I FDNY ASSISTANT CHIEF RICHARD BLATUS

    Join us with our special guest, 42 year FDNY veteran, Assistant Chief Richard Blatus.  Probie Blatus was appointed to the FDNY November of 1980. The class was detailed to Fire Prevention upon graduation, before transferring to E48 in February of ’81. In ’86 he went across the floor to Ladder 56 where he stayed until being promoted to Lt. in 1990. He spent 2 years in the 5th division before making his way down to Manhattan to Ladder 25! N 1994 He promoted to Captainand Back up to the boogy down he went! In 2000 He promoted to BC and over the next 17 years he served under some Big names in a wide variety of specialties! In 2017 Chief was promoted to Deputy, and in 2018 to Deputy Assistant. In 2020 he was promoted to Assistant Chief Bureau of Operations, and in 2022 he was designated Acting Chief of Operations! He hug it up in March of ’23, and now es here with you all! His toughest assignment yet!  Gonna be another great show. Keep up cause we got a lot to go through!. You don’t want to miss this one.
