    Colesterol: lo que su perfil lipídico no le está diciendo

    El colesterol no se disuelve en agua. Y nuestra sangre es, en esencia, agua. Por eso viaja dentro de partículas, pequeños camiones de reparto. Y lo que se atasca en la pared de la arteria es el camión completo, no la carga que lleva adentro. Por eso dos personas con el mismo número de colesterol pueden tener riesgos muy distintos. En marzo de 2026, varias sociedades publicaron una guía nueva que reemplaza la de 2018. En este episodio: por qué el colesterol necesita un vehículo, qué son la Apo B y la Lp(a), por qué ahora se recomienda medir la Lp(a) a todos los adultos una vez en la vida, y por qué la calculadora de riesgo anterior fue reemplazada por sobreestimar el riesgo entre 40 y 50%. Incluye el matiz honesto: medimos una partícula que todavía no sabemos tratar, y por qué los mensajes extremos, ni el colesterol alto es siempre catastrófico, ni las estatinas son veneno, están equivocados.     Hipertensión: la condición más común y la peor medida

    La hipertensión es la condición crónica más común del mundo. Y posiblemente la peor medida. Una toma hecha sin las condiciones adecuadas puede sobreestimar la presión real entre 20 y 30 mmHg. Esa es la diferencia entre 'usted está bien' y 'usted necesita medicamento de por vida'.
