Shaq visits Edmonton, car stereos, and Baggedmilk's plumbing adventure

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Shaquille O'Neal being in Edmonton, old car stereos, disc changers in your trunk, and more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about Shaq being in Edmonton and how just being him must be so exhausting. No matter where the guy goes, there's always a list of people who want to interact with him. Talking about Shaq led the guys to wonder which athlete is most famous worldwide. As you'll hear, it's hard to think of many athletes from any sport who would carry more brand recognition than the Big Aristotle. Changing gears, the conversation turned to everyone's first car, and how it's amazing how much the music game has changed for guys who started with disc changers in their trunks. These days, the idea of having a six-disc changer in your trunk sounds nuts, but it's fascinating to hear everyone experience the same thing. The guys also discussed how much they invested in their old car stereos, which is wild to think about in an era when big stereos aren't nearly as prevalent. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with the Thursday episode of Real Life with a run of topics, starting with re-gripping golf clubs, a young Chalmers golf journey, kids not knowing how to fix anything, and Baggedmilk's plumbing adventure. Once again, the final chunk of Thursday's episode of Real Life was all over the map with a range of topics that covered a lot of ground.  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Oilers' trade deadline, life hacks, and the Nation HQ snack controversy

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed their beefs of the week, life hacks, the NHL Trade deadline, Oilers moves, the Nation HQ snack controversy, and more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a new order of operations: they started the podcast with their beefs of the week instead of wrapping up the show. Wanye started the segment with a drive-thru complaint after his breakfast order was missing both the egg and milk he requested. Jay followed up with a beef of the week of his own after he got told off in traffic for simply occupying his space. Changing gears, the conversation turned to life hacks the fellas have amassed over the years, and how Wanye has a new parking hack at Rogers Place that he refuses to share. Somehow, the parking discussion led to a discussion about snacks at Nation HQ and how a few staffers are being accused of overindulging in the office fridge. As you'll hear, the mission for the boys is to start capturing greed red-handed and turning it into content. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with the Thursday episode of Real Life with a run of topics, starting with the Nation Vacation to Vegas, the Oilers making moves ahead of the trade deadline, what they could potentially do before the buzzer, NHL insiders calling trades before they're done, and whatever other random stories and items they could come up with to fill the time. Oilers disaster in Anaheim, Tristan Jarry, and Canada vs. USA

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Wayne Gretzky locker-room snub rumour, the Oilers' disastrous effort in Anaheim, Tristan Jarry's struggles, Tyler's hypotheticals, and more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about the Olympic hockey final and a rumour that came out this morning saying Wayne Gretzky was not allowed in the room for a pre-game speech. Given that the rumour started on Barn Burner, it's been interesting to see how much noise came out of Mike Commodore's comments on the show. While the rumour has been shot down by Hockey Canada, social media has continued to run with the story. Changing gears, the conversation turned to Tyler's list of "fun" hypothetical scenarios that weren't really all that fun. Unfortunately, those hypotheticals didn't do much to lift the mood in the room, as everyone was still notably annoyed by how the Oilers are playing right now. From undoing the Skinner-for-Jarry trade or adjusting current Oilers contracts to free up cap dollars, Tyler offered a few this-or-that scenarios that were as sad as they were tricky to parse. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with the Thursday episode of Real Life, running through topics, starting with staying away from social media in the days after the gold medal game, rivalries growing the game, the 2028 World Cup vs. a Summit Series-style head-to-head, and beefs of the week. As you'll hear and likely expect, this week's episode of Real Life covered a lot of ground and topics that were all over the map. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The Winter Games, Team Canada in the semi-finals, and Wanye's art class

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the winter games, Team Canada in the semi-finals, and more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about the winter games, as Tyler kicked off the podcast by admitting he's watching the curling semi-final as Canada works to punch their way to the final. Chalmers, however, hasn't been able to get into the games outside men's hockey, and it was a fascinating change of pace for the guy who even downloaded an app to find out what time things were showing. Changing gears, the conversation turned to Team Canada's quarter-final win over Czechia and how remarkable it was that no one noticed the Czechs had 6+ players on the ice for that third goal. While it was definitely a mistake by the officiating crew, it was also baffling how none of the Canadian players or coaches noticed and called it out. They also discussed what Canada needs to improve on as they face Team Finland in the semis on Friday morning. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with the Thursday episode of Real Life with a run of topics, starting with what everyone's plans are for the rest of the men's hockey tournament, including the events schedule for the next couple of games. They also discussed the upcoming Brunch for Ben that's happening at the end of February, and this is an event that you absolutely want to be at. From there, the show really devolved into nonsense, as the guys decided to the to tell old stories about peeing their pants. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Connor McDavid's Team Canada debut, and strange news from the games

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Oilers' disaster, the Milan-Cortina Games, scandals at the games, beefs of the week, and more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about the Winter Games in Milan and how it's wild that these cities have to build all kinds of infrastructure for a three-week period. Somehow, talking about the Olympics led the boys to discuss Connor McDavid winning the Scholastic Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons when he was in Erie. Eventually, the fellas got around to McDavid's debut with Team Canada, and how No. 97 was shot out of a cannon for the first game. Changing gears, the conversation turned to sports that you won't see in the Winter or Summer Games, including the new sport where two giant men run into each other at full speed. As you'll hear, the boys clearly love the Winter Games and were not shy about sharing their admiration for these athletes. Sticking with the Milan Games, the guys ran through some of the wildest headlines so far and ranked them by their general absurdity. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with the Thursday episode of Real Life with a run of topics, starting with beefs of the week, Leon Draisaitl's spectacular debut, copyright laws for the games, and how athletes are forced to do commercials just to afford their participation. Even though it was just Tyler, Baggedmilk, and Wanye, the boys covered a lot of ground in the Thursday episode of Real Life. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
