In 1974, Mark Burns called his girlfriend Dianne to tell her that he was in prison. He had been arrested on assault and r*pe charges. He told Dianne that he didn’t do it and was being framed. Mike Douglas Burns was then convicted of 1st degree and sentenced to death in a gas chamber. However, he would then be released after serving 16 years. He would move in with his wife Diane and his strange behavior began. While out all night long, he began to abuse his wife. She escaped and divorced him in 1990. After the escape and divorce, a series of attacks would occur in the Wyoming/Utah area, starting in 1991. For the next 20 years, this perpetrator was unknown. After a joint task force to uncover The Clearfield R*pist, DNA would lead them to a family member. Then on September 25th 2019, Mark Burns was arrested at his home. He was 69 years old. He was then connected to 11 attacks and later claimed there were 3 more prior. However, he then confessed to 3 murders. He was also a serial killer who had never been caught. Diane would learn that her ex-husband was a serial killer from a YouTube video that popped up on her recommendations. Husband Stalked, Attacked Then Pretended to RESCUE His Wife

It was 2am on the 1st of January 2021 when Cherokee Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call in Canton, Georgia. They had received a call from a man stating that someone had broken into the home of his ex-wife and he found her face down on her deck with a pillowcase over her head. She was bound with zip ties and the back door was wide open. When they arrived, Rodney Metzer was on the front porch, holding onto a bruised woman. Morgan Metzer was found to have been brutally attacked. A search of Rodney's phone showed an obsession with his ex. He was arrested at her residence after Morgan claimed that she had suspicions that he was her attacker. In his apartment, they found a book called "7 ways to be her hero." Investigators theorized that Rodney had created this scheme to attack his ex, make her a victim and then become her savior to win her back. No one had believed Morgan when she stated that their decade long marriage was full of abuse and gaslighting. They had finalized their divorce, the month prior. The DA stated, “This defendant planned a violent attack on his ex-wife that included breaking into her home, disguising himself, and pistol-whipping her. He left her outside on a cold winter night, face down, tied up with a pillowcase over her head. I cannot imagine how terrifying this must have been for her. This is a classic example of how the most dangerous time for a domestic violence victim is when she decides to leave an abusive relationship.” Follow your host, Brooke Makenna, on YouTube, IG & Tiktok @brookemakenna for crime content @brookeunscripted for personal content! Sources for this episode in the YouTube description box!  We're over the killers on this true crime podcast. Daughter Exposed “Serial Killer Father" She Was Forced to Help As Child?

Thanks to our sponsors: If you’re struggling with OCD or unrelenting intrusive thoughts, NOCD can help. Book a free 15 minute call to get started: https://learn.nocd.com/OVERKILLERS What if the monster everyone feared was your father? What if like Lucy Studey, no one believed you? Lucy began telling anyone she could that her father Donald Dean Studey was a serial killer. He would force his young children to help him dispose of the bodies in the well. She believed that he had killed anywhere from 50 to 70 women over 3 decades. Most of the women had dark or darkish hair, all were white and in their 20s to 30s. Donald would invite them into their home to watch over the kids. When her father died in 2013, Lucy would go to the media to tell her story, while her sister Susan claimed that Lucy was a liar. However, Lucy's stepsisters believed that Donald had killed their mother Charlotte Studey as well as his previous wife Lucy. Donald's sister Marilyn Kepler, who was arrested for attempted murder would write a book about her life, accusing Donald of killing many, including two that she watched. While the FBI got involved and excavations ensued at the property they grew up on, no bodies have been found. This is the true story and 2026 updates of the Paramount + docuseries, My Killer Father: The Green Hollow Murders. Is Lucy telling the truth? Husband's Double Life Led to Kidnapped Couple in Hidden Basement

Thanks to our sponsors: Grow therapy is here to help, visit https://growtherapy.com/overkillers today to get started! Availability and coverage vary by state and insurance plan. Back in 2017 in Erie, Illinois, Connie and Larry Van Oosten were a married retired couple who would be kidnapped from their home.  About a day later, 30 miles away from Erie in Albany, a woman would walk into the First Trust and Savings bank. She was still dressed in her pajamas and gave the bank teller a cashier’s check for $350,000. This was made out to a company called The Store Edge.  At the same time, the woman slipped a handwritten letter to the teller. This stated, “I am here under duress. Please call the police. My husband and I are being held at gunpoint. Do not react. Do not follow us.” Investigators had discovered that the company The Store Edge that was written on the check left at the bank, was owned by a man named Chad Schipper. With this discovery, he became the prime suspect. As police zeroed in on the home residence, his wife and six children were woken up in the middle of the night with police demanding to know where Chad was. After a high speed chase ended in the arrest of their prime suspect, investigators searched his rental home. They would also locate a room with a screen that appeared to be showing security footage. An elderly couple were seen in a concrete room shackled to a wall forced to stand up and blindfolded. There were no stairs to be seen, only a ladder against the wall. As they began removing the floors, they would uncover a steel-lined door in a closet that led to a soundproofed underground cellar. The couple were weak from lack of food and sleep. They were both bruised and showing signs of hypothermia. After realizing they were being rescued, they embraced deputies in tears.  Follow your host, Brooke Makenna, on YouTube, IG & Tiktok @brookemakenna for crime content @brookeunscripted for personal content! Sources for this episode in the YouTube description box!  We're over the killers on this true crime podcast. 7YO Kidnapped & Murdered, 30 YEARS Later Killer Has Confessed

On July 24th, Morgan Violi was right outside of the apartment building with her sister and the friends they had made where they lived. They were all playing when Morgan would vanish.Witnesses stated that a white man grabbed Morgan and put her into a Maroon Chevrolet van and drove away. One witness remembered the van was burgundy with a KY license plate containing the letters MN and said that the male was white in his 20s with shoulder length brown hair, unshaven, a thin build, a tanned complexion and was wearing blue jeans and a white-t-shirt. 2 days later, the van involved in the kidnapping had been located near in Franklin, TN, about an hour drive from Bowling Green. 3 months later, on October 20th 1996, in White House, Tennessee, about 30 minutes from where the van was abandoned, Morgan's body was found. She had been murdered. While Morgan’s father Glen himself admitted that he failed 5 lie-detector tests, the FBI special agents stated that they’ve never named him as a suspect. In 2015, 18 years since Morgan’s abduction, the FBI began investigating a new case that they believed to be eerily similar to Morgan’s. This was another murder of a 7 year old girl in Scottsville, KY. Scottsville was 30 minutes from Bowling Green. 7 year old Gabriella "Gabbi" Doolin was watching a youth football game of her older brother on November 15th 2015 when she vanished. Her body was found in a creek 400 yards from the game. Ruled a homicide due to strangulation and drowning. A week later, DNA found at the scene was linked to 38 year old Timothy Madden. on February 27th 2026 that they could officially name a suspect in the kidnapping and murder of Morgon Violi. Not her father, not Tony Scott Redemann, not even Timothy Madden. This was a 62 year old named Robert Froburg. But he was an inmate and had been since all the way back before 1996. Missing Women Held in Millionaire's Self-Built Dungeon for 15 Years

Thanks to our sponsors: If you’re struggling with OCD or unrelenting intrusive thoughts, NOCD can help. Book a free 15 minute call to get started: https://learn.nocd.com/OVERKILLERS 3 victims, all in the Syracuse, New York area, were kidnapped and released within 6 years. However, they didn’t appear to fit the same victim profile. The 14 year old Michelle was a Latina, whereas 53 year old La was Vietnamese and 26 year old Jennifer was White. All different ages, different ethnicities. But what did they have in common? These were 3 survivors who felt as though they weren’t being ignored by police.  When a 16 year old vanished in 2002, becoming the 4th known victim, she would bravely make her escape 7 months later. This time, she was rescued after persuading her captor to trust her and allow her outside of the house where she called for help. He was arrested, she survived. However, her captor turned out to be a 67 year old John Thomas Jamelske, a millionaire hoarder. Detectives would find a self-built dungeon under his home where he had been holding girls for 15 years. The real first victim, Kirsten had been threatened out of going to police. She was abducted back in 1988 when she was 14 years old. The "Dungeon Master" had abducted and held 5 girls captive for months to years and while survivors try to warn the Syracuse police, they ignored their stories until they were standing in this monsters dungeon of horrors.
