Sohma House Medicine Chats: Rest, Resilience & Returning to Yourself with Joe Winter & Cameron Rosin

Brother Joe Winter joins me for another medicine chat from sunny, rainy Far North Queensland. We find ourselves circling a question: how can we be so infinitely complex and still experience the radical simplicity of just being? We talk about the search for that one thing that will finally make us feel okay, the beliefs we organise our lives around, and what it means to build a more compassionate understanding of ourselves. There’s a thread through all of this about capacity. What gives you energy? What helps you meet life? And where do you go when you need to come back in? The clouds must gather before there is rain. We explore that inward turn, the dance between discipline and surrender, and learning to honour rest in a world that keeps asking us to produce. Something I’m very much practising myself. We also touch on what’s taking shape at Sohma House, the community gathering around it, and my own season of nesting as we prepare to welcome our second child. There’s something beautiful about allowing ourselves to be supported while we’re building something to support others. An invitation to soften our grip on knowing, make room for honest dialogue, and keep returning to the simple things that help us arrive. A walk. A breath. A conversation with someone we love. Big love,Cam This episode of the podcast is brought to you by the Sohma House Medicine Chat series. Sohma House 17 Anderson Street,  Cairns, QLD 4870 📞 4015 3444

    A New Freedom | Ep. 84

How do you go where you’ve never been before? How do you find the way when your path becomes obscured? How do you continue? Intention.  Intention is how you go where you've never gone, do what you've never done, and become what you really are. Intention admits that all is not known. Intention continues beyond the boundaries that old selves shied away from. This episode is for my lovers and jesters, quirky poets and sensitive creators. This is for my beloved friends, those provoking changes in consciousness, those Souls compelled to be of service to a world beyond themselves. Here’s to you, my friend.  May you discover within you the indomitable essence of your Being. May you discover that it is less what you say, less what you do, and more the tone of your authenticity that rings most true. And in an age driven to distort, this resonant tone shines brighter than you could possibly imagine. The flow of truth is light. The flow of you is light. May you remember. May this life be for life. I am here, with you, completely. Join me on Open and receive 30-days free, for this year’s Nervous System Reset, scored by James Blake. I discuss the power of creating intentional spaces, the concept of in-formed decision-making, and the impact of mind-created limitations. This meditation and breathwork series is crafted to help you reclaim your focus, align with your inner purpose, and experience the power of intentional attention. By joining, you’ll receive 30 days of free access to support your journey back to yourself—and to help you live more fully, more freely, and more creatively. Check out the link below and reclaim what is yours. Focused Mind Series In this episode of This Might Be Helpful, I explore the theme of creative flow, connection, and alignment after experiencing the frustration of a lost recording session. Embracing the opportunity to alchemise, I dive into the process of using somatic awareness—the body’s innate intelligence—to bring ideas to life. By listening deeply to the body, creative energy and insight can flow more freely, revealing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. This is an episode challenging the tendency to overthink, a proposition that focusing on physical sensations helps align thoughts with emotions and instincts. The importance of embodiment in creative processes is an invitation to open up to the answers that present themselves in presence and connection. How To Get Ahead (Of Your Self) Ep. 76

In this episode, Cam dives deep into the concept of staying present and the importance of not getting "ahead of yourself." He challenges listeners to question which "self" they are trying not to rush past: the self defined by past experiences, judgments, and limitations, or the true self that exists only in the present moment. Cam explores how the mind often clings to past patterns, judgments, and ideas of perfection, causing us to miss the richness of the present. He emphasises that being "ahead of yourself" is about breaking free from the constraints of past identities and stepping into the full potential of now. The episode is a call to embrace the present moment fully, where the true self resides — free from distortion, expectation, and past narratives. Cam offers practical guidance to deepen presence, such as noticing bodily sensations, relaxing tension, and letting go of the mind's need to categorise and understand everything based on past experiences. You are invited to move beyond the stories you've told yourself, both past and future, and to find your true freedom in the "now." Blockages Aren't What You Think They Are | Ep. 75

In this episode, Cam explores the idea that blockages in life are not insurmountable obstacles but rather areas calling for greater responsibility. He discusses how our thoughts about blockages can create and reinforce these perceived barriers. By taking full responsibility for various aspects of our lives—whether it be financial health, creative expression, or emotional well-being—we can shift from a state of wishing for change to actively creating it. Cam emphasises the importance of seeing responsibility not as a burden but as an empowerment tool that bridges the gap between intention and manifestation. He explains that taking responsibility is a declaration of our power, aligning us with our higher selves and demonstrating our readiness to receive and create the experiences we desire. Throughout the episode, Cam encourages listeners to reflect on what they are willing to take responsibility for and how this shift can lead to a more fulfilled and purposeful life. Reflections on Impermanence, Friction, and Responsibility In this episode, Cam shares personal reflections on finding solace in impermanence, using the Japanese concept of 'Mono no aware' as a metaphor for appreciating the fleeting beauty of life's moments. The episode delves into the idea that experiencing and acknowledging the transitory nature of life, especially in personal growth and parenting, can lead to a deeper appreciation of the present. Furthermore, the concept of friction as a catalyst for self-improvement and alignment, emphasizing that challenges and discomfort can serve as indicators for areas in our lives that require homework. Through personal anecdotes and philosophical insights, the episode encourages you to embrace life’s pathways to growth, and to remain present and engaged in the journey towards fulfillment. 00:00 Welcome to Another Episode: Tiny Thoughts to Ponder 00:32 Embracing Impermanence: The Beauty of Mono No Aware 03:36 Finding Growth in Friction: The Homework of Life 06:06 The Journey of Responsibility and Success 07:20 The Power of Not Knowing: Embracing the Present 10:19 Joining the Community: An Invitation 11:17 Closing Thoughts: Living Life Beyond Optimization Aya Odyssey: https://ayaodyssey.com/retreat Open: Guided Meditation: https://o-p-e-n.com/ Join the TMBH Community: https://community.tmbh.co/checkout/community-subscription Follow Cameron on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cameronrosin/ Follow Cameron on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cameronrosin Subscribe to Cameron’s YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpHzeVzFita4bRZbQQP_Q6g For more information visit https://camrosin.io/ Hosted on Acast.
