    Shea Locke and Ruby had watched longingly as the Abandoned Ship as Mr. Briney sailed them right by it on the way to Slateport City. Well, now the Manga and Anime rub it in as Ruby, Sapphire, and Ash and co all get to visit the place. And, in both forms of media, there is some Wailord and an encounter with Team Magma. But that's not all. In the Anime, May starts her journey through the contests and picks up a Recurring Rival! Then, after the show, we catch up with Violet in Vermillion City. The battle between Violet and Lt. Surge is not looking good...and the people around her seem to have trouble counting.     This week we battle the Dewford Gym in the Manga and AGAIN in the Anime! First, in the Manga, the wrong person runs into Steven and Ruby's Pokemon evolve while Sapphire prepares for her gym battle with Brawly. Then, in the Anime, the final starter Pokemon of Hoenn is met...times a hundred. Corphish causes problems, Birch shows back up, and Jessie is in denial. Through more evolutions and a convergence of the three teams (Aqua, Magma, and Rocket) eventually leads the story back to Brawly and a secret arena where Ash tries again to earn that second badge. Then, in the Anime, after a run in with Team Aqua, the gang hitch a ride from Mr. Briney toward Dewford where they deal with a shark attack. Then Ash mirrors my own efforts at Brawly's gym and loses! What does he do next? How much of the Corphish line to we get to see? And who is hanging out in Granite Cave? Then, after the episode, we catch up with Murasaki and Beck as entering Saffron seems to be difficult and Murasaki reunites with some old friends. Team Aqua/Magma show up again, dead ends are found, and Mr. Briney gives them a ride to Dewford island where the next gym awaits them. Can they defeat Brawly? Will they find Steven? Then, after the episode, Violet makes some new friends, says goodbye to an old one, and gets ready to get back on track to defeat the Vermillion City Gym!
