    In this episode, I’m talking about something I don’t think gets enough attention in the overlanding world—what happens when the excitement starts to fade and it just… isn’t as fun anymore. I’ve been there. What starts as an incredible adventure—building your rig, planning trips, chasing new places—can slowly turn into something that feels more like work than escape. The gear gets overwhelming, the expectations get higher, and before you know it, you’re exhausted instead of recharged.     When you’re building out an overlanding rig, the excitement to just start bolting parts on can be overwhelming… but trust me, a solid plan makes all the difference. In this episode, I walk through my strategy for planning an overland build the right way before turning a single wrench. I talk about the importance of documenting dimensions, measuring twice (or three times!) and cutting once, and why creating a simple spreadsheet or Google Doc can save you tons of headaches. I’ll show you how I map out every step of a build so I know exactly what needs to happen — and in what order — to keep the project moving forward smoothly. Toward the end, I share one of my favorite practical tips: laying out all the gear and components you already own on the floor so you can visualize the setup, talk through your plan, and update your drawings based on real-world space and fitment.     Ground Tent, Hammock, Roof Top Tent Camping, and Now Finally a Hard-Sided Camper (Pros and Cons)

    Over the years, my camping and overlanding setup has gone through some serious evolution. I’ve slept in ground tents, tried hammock camping, spent plenty of nights in a roof top tent, and now I’m making the move to a hard-sided pop-up camper. In this episode, I’m breaking down my real-world experience with each setup — the good, the bad, and the things you don’t always think about until you’re out on the trail. Each style of camping has its place, and I’ve learned that what works best really depends on how you travel, where you camp, and what level of comfort and convenience you’re looking for. I talk through the biggest pros and cons of each setup including cost, setup time, weather protection, mobility, storage, and overall usability during overlanding trips. I also share why my needs have changed over time and what ultimately pushed me toward switching to a hard-sided camper. This isn’t about saying one setup is better than another — it’s about helping you understand the tradeoffs so you can decide what fits your style of adventure.
